I think it is. To play safe transfer bitcoin from Luno on Sunday to wherever you have ownership of private/public keys. I am going to use either Jaxx or Exodus.
I think doing a transfer in the last 48 hrs before Aug1 might be a higher risk than just leaving it in Luno. A delay may just leave your coins in no mans land.

I thought the fork was avoided ? What's the NEW news ?

ViaBTC has announced Bitcoin Cash (BCC) yesterday which is a fork of Bitcoin with 8MB blocks to be activated 1 August regardless of BIP91. On their exchange BCC futures have reached $500 in price yesterday. The only thing that can stop that is if they withdraw themselves which is unlikely. Having said that, if people are not interested in mining BCC then it will fail.

Let's see if Luno releases a statement within this week to explain how they will be handling the fork. Wasn't there a Luno rep on the forum?

I remember something to the effect of 12 hours before segwit activation all trading will be suspended. Don't know about receiving/sending or buying/selling without using the exchange section of Luno.

Yep. Saw that.. but they haven't said anything about the handling of the Bitcoin Cash, or whether we would be entitled to our allocation given that they control the keys.

Other exchanges (like Trezor) have released statements:
"In case of a chain-split, nothing will happen to bitcoins protected with a TREZOR, if you do not send coins during the period of uncertainty. If the network will split permanently, you will end up with two (or more) types of bitcoin in your TREZOR wallet."
