@lunomoney: What's the reason for not offering ETH? I mean, it's not like it's some obscure alt or something. I really don't want to have to use another exchange as I'm quite happy with luno. Please? If I buy you a beer?
Also my question, I mean coinbase support ETH and ltc,
So they got to be mature enough?
Ether even had a hard fork of its own to ether classic.

I don't think we're opposed to Ethereum, or other digital currencies for that matter. I personally find Ethereum fascinating, albeit with my very limited knowledge on how things work under the hood.

Our main goal is to make digital currency easy, accessible and as pain free as possible to our customers, and I think we're just starting to get that right. Implementing ETH would be great, but it takes a massive amount of Engineering work and some fairly complex product changes start cropping up almost immediately.

That's not to say we'll never offer it though.

And cheers for that offer on the beer, I think I'll cash it in a little down the line ;)

Just a bit of a pain getting ETH right now.
ZAR -> BTC -> ETH and that process really eats away at the initial ZAR.

Especially with so many ERC20 tokens on the market right now that start off with exclusive ETH trading pairs it would be really nice to go straight from ZAR -> ETH.

Use Altcointrader.co.za ZAR>ETH. Get it at good price watching trade patterns

now that the fork situation is hopefully resolved, maybe near the end of the year,
it might happen

There is another fork looming around 16 November...
Sometimes I get the impression its the blind leading the blind in here

Nope. The big one, and the most contentious, has always been the Segwit 2x change arising from the New York agreement. BTG and BCH are sideshows along the path to this.

My plan is to hodl BTC until the fork and sell off BTC immediately after. Segwit2x should win IMO.

What happens to the unclaimed BTG if Luno won’t support it, they could technically claim it for themselves at any stage. (they own the private keys)
AltCoinTrader has credited accounts with BTG, but advises against trading it just yet.

@lunomoney, what’s your plans with SegWit2x? Should we be moving our BTC off your exchange before the fork?

Sorry for being so upfront, but we need some time to prepare.

Ether even had a hard fork of its own to ether classic.

The forked chain is called Ethereum, the original Ethereum chain is now called Ethereum classic.

Just move to Exodus or a wallet that will support all this. Much less stress

I'm guessing the altcointrader account is funded with EFT?
What are their clearance times like?

EDIT: NVM. Registered and seen what's required. Will get verified and start using them for eth. I'll happily bring my eth purchases back to luno when they start supporting it, hopefully soon :).
