Mini celebrates 1965 Monte Carlo Rally victory with new special-edition models
Celebrating its 1965 Monte Carlo Rally victory, Mini has whipped off the wraps of the 1965 Victory Edition models.
Celebrating its 1965 Monte Carlo Rally victory, Mini has introduced the aptly named 1965 Victory Edition package to its Cooper lineup. The special-edition spec is available with the Cooper S, which we evaluated for a road test in 2025, petrol-only John Cooper Works, and the John Cooper Works Electric variants.
Specified in 1965 Victory Edition spec, the Mini hatch is finished in ‘Chili Red’ exterior paintwork and features a white decal running from the bonnet to the tailgate. Sited opposite sides the vehicle are white decals of the number ’52’ – the same number that adorned the British firm’s Monte Carlo Rally-winning car. The C-pillar and front door sills also feature ‘1965’ lettering. The 1965 Victory Edition models are fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels.
Under the skin, the Mini 1965 Victory Edition models remain untouched, with the Cooper S and petrol-only JCW derivative employing a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 150 kW/300 N.m and 170 kW/380 N.m, respectively. Power is exclusively channelled to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The most powerful of the trio, the electrified John Cooper Works model’s single electric motor produces 190 kW, with 350 N.m delivered to the road via the front axle. The battery-powered JCW completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in a claimed 5.9 seconds.
