The BMW X3 Thread

DRIVEN: Is the BMW iX3 electric model a viable alternative?

VERDICT

At R1 290 000, the BMW iX3 does seem to be a viable alternative to the internal combustion X3s, and with the way petrol and diesel prices are heading these days, you may recoup the extra investment sooner than you think. As a further bonus, BMW is also selling it with a complimentary Wallbox charger and you’ll also get free charging at BMW-branded charging stations, assuming you manage to find one within your radius of convenience.

The next iX3 and other BMW models to come in short and long range variants

According to a tipster on Bimmerpost, who has a pretty good track record when it comes to BMW-related stuff, the company plans to offer long and short-range options with all of its EVs based on the upcoming Neue Klasse platform. That includes the upcoming iX3 too. Single and dual motor variants are also in the cards.

Still, it's important to note that the source of the leak says that the info is based on pretty early hints and it's not a sure thing.

However, the decision to offer a wider range of battery options makes a lot of sense. Tesla is doing the same in order to appeal to a broader range of customers. After all, not everyone needs the highest possible mileage on one charge.

The tipster suggests the next iX3 SUV might come in Standard Range RWD, Standard Range AWD, Long Range AWD and M Performance AWD.
