I hope he calls the election with the House constantly voting the way they are.

If the extension is granted the opposition will have no choice but to agree to an election.
BJ looks like the victim in the public's eyes so I expect a big win for the Tories.
It would have been much better to pass this pretty bad deal, and let BJ and the Tories own it.

The only thing I am really personally against is a no deal crash out, any other outcome has both pros and cons.

As I've said before, he can't, it's not in his power to call an election.
Maybe a crash out will force all parties to get their asses in gear and get agreements in place, instead of this stay/leave daily fight.
Yeah, he can only resign as PM which will then leave it up to Parliament to choose a new PM.
He can however, ask Parliament to call a general election. But so far Boris has not been able to win a single vote in Parliament. He must be going for some kind of record.
I think people don't seem to understand that the UK does not actually elect the PM or the govt. That isnt how the Parliamentary system works. The UK elections are for members of Parliament who represent constituents and then its up to Parliament to appoint a Prime Minister.
I am sure I recall Brexiteers harping on about how political power must be returned to Parliament, blah, blah, blah.

The next general election is May 2022. The voters can choose MP then. Like they chose MP's a few months ago to tell the Tories to go f themselves

Except of course that a large number of members have switched parties - mainly from Tories to Lib Dems - and yet not called by elections because they know they'd be thrashed in safe Tory seats. They were elected under false pretenses. When votes have been this close, these defectors do count.
The only good thing I can say about Grieve is of all the permanent Tory rebels, at least he is allowing the electorate to pass a verdict on his disgraceful behaviour. He will need to find another job though soon....

So Brexit towards end of 2022 then. At least it gives them time to start drawing up the trade agreements with other countries.

Care to point out the parliamentary rule that says a by-election is required?
I think he means a general election. People will vote for stay or go by voting for a parliament that is their will, and Brexit can be settled once and for all.

Though I don't think a general election will solve anything now, it's likely to be pretty close to the 2017 results and ends up with another hung parliament.
The only paths I see are either an exit with a deal or a referendum to decide between no deal and remain. Once the Brexit question is finalised and over then an election should follow.

The Tories and Labour MPs fear a snap general election because Nigel Farage's Brexit Party voters will for the first time vote in MPs who will force a Clean Break Brexit (No Deal) by tipping the scales out of this deadlock.
They are petrified of having Farage and his MPs in Westminster because they speak to truth for 12.4 million voters who voted to leave, and still want to leave, and won't back down. The current political class are a bunch a liars who voted for the 2016 referendum, promised to deliver Brexit, voted to trigger Article 50 and now doing a 180 degree u-turn wanting to Remain. Total Scum who have broken their promise to the people who won their right to LEAVE.

They are more of a problem for the Tories, as they will split the leaver vote. If anything the Brexit Party will be instrumental in causing a hung parliament.
