The Brexit Thread

Ok, so there will continue to be free movement of people and goods between the UK and the EU? We know the EU needs to protect it's single market though so that's unlikely.

And a fundamental point of Brexit is to control the borders. No border is not an option.

Your grasp of the situation seems as clear as Boris Johnston's. In other words, non existant.
And yours as clear as some random Internet conspiracy prepper. The world is going to end I hope your bunker is ready.

Whatever movement there is will continue as normal until a new agreement is in place. It might put Ireland in a difficult spot if the EU gets spiteful, but the EU won't as then more countries will jump ship.

Oh, you mean you have no idea. Why not just say so?

Ah, there you go.

The issue is not with the Republic of Ireland and Europe, the issue is with Northern Ireland and the Good Friday Agreement.

What new agreement? A no deal Brexit means exactly that, no agreement. In the meantime you're saying nothing will change, so then what is the point of Brexit if the free movement of goods and people continues as before? It's not about the EU being spiteful, it's about them protecting their single market. It's what countries in the EU expect and will enforce.

What do you think is going to happen with the Irish border now? In the likely event that the no deal Brexit you desire so enthusiastically will happen.

Well that is Ireland's problem to sort out now isn't it. That's Ireland's problem and they will nee to try and resolve it. About time, some puts their foot down and draw the line in the sand. Pussy footing around technicalities is what has been the cause of this delay.

Perhaps he is ignorant of the decades of violence and death over that border?

Don't know why everyone is trying to make an issue of the Ireland Backstop. Boris has already said: "NO BACKSTOP"

You’re not understanding the importance of that border. The problem is Britain’s and it means a potential return to civil war.

Boris has a working majority of 2 in parliament. Fortunately more than 2 conservative MPs realise it's an issue that can't be wished away.

O I understand it pretty well thank you for assuming.

This backstop was the last glimmer of hope the Remoaners was clinging on to. As it stands, there is someone in Downing street now who will draw the line and let the bricks fall where they may.

No deal means they exit EU without a deal already in place. The reason why they should do this is because the EU is currently playing chicken and still butthurt that they are exiting. The day after that happens they can negotiate new trade agreements with anyone and everyone.

No deal Brexit doesn't mean Britain will never again have a trade deal with anyone. Any the EU will suffer just as much if they somehow implement the end of the world as you guy think they will.

Well, no. Not really. The problem is a massive one and your casual dismissal of it is enough to show anyone who knows what they are talking about that you don't understand it. And the person in Downing Street you are referring to probably knows even less as he compared the border to crossing over a boundary to another burgh in London.

More remoaner doomsday prophesies...

Let's see how it all unfolds.

But the UK wants to control their borders, hence voting for Brexit.
They will. It's politics, it will take time. No magic border wall is going to go up over night. This just give them the power that is rightfully theirs as a Sovereign state.
