The Brexit Thread

uhm, Europarl website, EU legislation specifically enforces that any member MUST implement EU laws that the EU determines to be necessary

you are aware that EU members must enact certain EU laws within their own laws right?!?
You know how democracy works, right?

Relevance in this thread?

EU parliament seat numbers are allocated base roughly on population figures only (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apportionment_in_the_European_Parliament)

All you can vote for as a citizen of an EU country is who fills those pre-allocated seats, meaning the UK with its 5th or so most number of seats can NEVER have more influence than that and are easily outvoted by the rest.

No UK citizen has ever had the right to choose who represents 90% of the EU parliament. So when 90% of unelected non UK citizens dictate to the 10% you dare call it "democracy"?!?

Democracy is the furthest thing from how the EU parliament operates, not to mention the EU was envisioned and marketed as an economic union, it was never meant to be the EUSSR which it has become.

So a bit like a non-ANC/EFF voter in the SA Parliament?

Speaking for myself, I've always maintained, in this thread, that no deal would be bad for both the UK and the EU. The difference is that the UK is the one who created this mess in the first place. It's extremely unlikely the EU will accept this new deal from Johnson, unfortunately, so I don't think you'll find a subservient, grovelling EU any time soon. The deal between Mays government and the EU was negotiated, despite what you may think, and is still the best possible deal available for both the UK and the EU (other than revoking Article 50 altogether)
Most people have maintained that. He just automatically assumes because we don't specifically mention the EU suffering that often , that we thinks they are fine.

No deal Brexit is a stupid idea because everyone suffers. But some more than others. UK pensioners being one of the groups that will suffer the most

not even close, hypothetically any ANC/EFF voter can change their vote and increase the representation of another party like the DA by voting for them instead

this is literally impossible in EU "elections"

Also keep in mind a lot of them have kicked the bucket since the ref, so they won't get to experience the fruits of their stupidity. They are expecting a very cold winter as well. :D

You really are quite deranged, I now remember why I didn't bother trying to interact with you, that saying about being dragged down and beaten by experience comes to mind again...

“At stake is the future of Europe”

^^^
that ladies and liberals is the problem....... and why Brexit is being delayed.

**** far left liberal Europe.

"far left liberal Europe" which is mainly being run by centre-right conservatives. Haha.

You don't have to put your ignorance on display so often, Whright. :)

Ah yes, standard NPC script when faced with irrefutable fact

Best run back to your echo chamber then, maybe they have some more advanced scripts for you

I see Boris is apparently quite incensed that the EU considers protecting the Good Friday Agreement as important
As he and every other UK or Irish citizen damn well should be. The EU was not a party to the agreement, the EU can stfu about matters it was never part of.

You do realise that the Republic of Ireland is part of the EU and party to the agreement, and that the EU are negotiating on behalf of Ireland.

The parties to the agreement do not include the EU, end of story.

It was between two independent nations that happen to both, yes both lest you forget, be EU members.

If two members of the Virgin Active health club sign a private contract between just the two of them where they agree to not park each other in if they're ever in the same parking lot you think the gym has a say?

Britain should exit hard and fast even if it's a crappy deal, as the EUrocraps now threaten. After quick new trade deals with USA, Canada, Australia, half the Commonwealth, and Japan they'll be in a better position than now. Call the EUrobluff - within two years of Brexit the European bluster will evaporate and they'll beg the UK to join the free trade zone.
I agree, but for different reasons. No deal now, Europe are sick of this, and should call the UK bluff. Let’s see how fast the UK come back and ask to rejoin or sign a trade deal.

it works both ways, depending on your opinion, there is no middle ground anymore. The real problem with Brexit is how much it has split the UK. And that’s the real tragedy that is going to take decades to recover from

I think everyone is sick of it. Damn politicians just annoying everybody else as per usual.

I say split the UK if it is all about sovereignty and doing what the people want. Those areas that voted to remain stay in the EU, those that voted to leave get to be a separate country outside the EU. That means places like London, Cambridge and Oxford can stay in the EU. The leave side should be very happy about this, because they're always saying how much they hate London and its liberals. We also know they hate universities because they're also full of liberals, so they should be glad to be rid of places like Cambridge and Oxford.
