Hopefully my great-great-great-great grandchildren will be able to enjoy fast internet, that is if they remain in South Africa.

rph72 - your great-great-great-great grandchildren....thats a bit soon don't you think. It will never be that quick :)

Yep, telkom is proudly killing South Africa's economy and promoting poverty with full support from the government. Very sad indeed.

Telkom cannot be blamed at all!!
It's our government who profits from Telkom and so allows this to happen.

No - just because you're a corporation doesn't preclude you from having morals. Telkom, Government, and most of all ICASA all deserve their fair share of the blame.

What's interesting is that New Zealand was also mentioned in that article. Wasn't there an article about 2 weeks back saying that NZ was in the same state as us a few years back. Look where they are now

ohmshalone - yeah, New Zealand was in the same state we are are in, but seriously, with our current government and the people running and regulating our telecoms industry, it will take more than a few years to rectify.

The sad part is, is the poor are the majority who voted in the current government, and they are the ones who are being affected the most. Whats even of more concern, is that they will most likely vote for the current government again in two years time.

Ditto what Bwana said. On the flipside, how can you seperate Telkom and it's largest shareholder anyway?

I note that there are not clear figures including 3G. !! I dont believe this article means much, as it is garbled.

I blame telkom firstly secondly i blame icasa and third would be the doc and lastly the bloody government.
