Who is going to be getting this game?
It looks like it might even be better than Enemy Unknown.

My finger is really itching on the Buy Now button on Steam. :D

Here's a small gameplay vid I got from random Youtubing:

And you get Spec Ops: The line for purchasing.

That almost makes it worth it on it's own.

Yip, I already own all the Xcom titles on the 3rd Tier rewards, but I can always gift that to someone.
Pretty sure it will reach all the rewards before the game releases, the % unlock climb like 20% this weekend alone.

My poor CC, I only managed now to get it straight after the Steam Sale, now it's going to take some punishment again, as I am still looking for the new Civ 5 expansion as well.

So I pre-ordered it on steam. Anyone know how to get all the free bonus games? They have not been added to my library and if I go to the game spec ops the line, there is no option to simply download it. It only has an option to purchase it. Will this only come out once the game is actually released?

It hasn't been unlocked yet, thats why.

Plus, I think you will only get them, if and when they are unlocked, when the game releases on the 23rd this month.

Nope you'll get them immediately.

Ah ok, for some reason I thought you only get them on release day, along with the bought game.
If that is the case, then we will receive Spec Ops within the next day or two, seeing as the unlock % is currently sitting at 96%.

Guys Spec Ops isn't your normal military shooter.

Take your time. Think about what you're doing.

One of the best Shooters ever made.

I wish there was a demo of this available, as was the case with Enemy Unknown.

The problem I have is that I REALLY love the X-Com universe and REALLY want to get this game, but I have a concern that the fundamental shift in gameplay this game went through, might count against it's "polish"....

Meh, I know what's going to happen. I'll go home tonight, reservations and all, and order it anyway :D

Nope you'll get them immediately.

When I pre-ordered Enemy unknown, I only had the titles added to my library when the game was released... If I get it immediately I will be happy though :)

Just take my advice and play it with an open mind.

You'll be rewarded well :)

I have read a couple of reviews about the game a while back, I think when it was released.
They were quite mixed, but all say the same thing..... be open minded about it.

Will most likely only get to play it in next week, busy weekend laying ahead from tomorrow onwards.

Well I positively loved it. But then I like games with strong narratives.

Well I'll be, you do get it immediately, busy downloading Spec Ops as I type.

Hazaa!! And thanks for the heads up Chevron.

What will ultimately tip me into buying this today was that they included the good ol' aliens we want in XCom....

I love the fact that you can get into the action yourself, plus it's nice to see "where it all began" (in a manner of speaking) for the Xcom Bureau.

I will def give Spec Ops a bash, always game for something new.

That's probably the one thing that confounds me a little.... If I recall, in the beginning of Enemy Unknown, "authorisation" is given to start the XCom program... but this is supposed to be it's origins?

Unless it's completely decommissioned after every threat (which would seem odd), you always start as though this was literally the first alien invasion... normal weapons, armour etc

It wouldn't make much of an interesting game progression if you started with all of the advanced weapons up front. They need to use plot mechanics a little at least.
And if you notice, the secret organisation that gives you the jobs and runs each country is actually well established. It is only you as the commander, and your head scientists that are new. I think the scientists need to fall into the same plot mechanic because they are actually the ones with the technology.
