Headline talks about EV and PHEV in the same sentence. Almost like click bait.
If you choose the pure electric model, you get plenty of power. The Sealion 05 EV can travel up to 630 km on a single charge and it is also quite fast for an SUV. It can go from zero to 100 km/h in only 5.9 seconds. That kind of speed helps when you need to merge onto a busy highway.
Is that at 40km/h? No info on engine size? The total range of the hybrid is the real shocker. With a full tank of gas and a full battery, the Sealion 05 DM-i can travel 2,105 km. You could drive from one side of a country to the other without stopping at a gas station.
When the battery is low, the car only uses 3.1 liters of fuel for every 100 km. That is very efficient for a vehicle of this size.
The most surprising part of the Sealion 05 series might be the price. BYD is known for making electric cars that many people can actually afford. The hybrid Sealion 05 DM-i starts at just RMB 97,900 - that is about €12,260 at current exchange rates. The most expensive hybrid trim goes up to RMB 127,900 (€16,010).
If you want the pure electric Sealion 05 EV, you will pay a bit more. The prices for the EV version start at RMB 119,900 and go up to RMB 145,900 (€15,000 to €18,300). These low prices put a lot of pressure on other car companies. It is hard to find another SUV with this much technology for such a low cost. BYD is clearly trying to win over every customer it can.
Probably doesn’t tow anything.
Really??? When 2028?
