Hi

This has probably been discussed here to death but I would like to say this again. The ISP's tell us that 1 to 2GB should be sufficient for a normal user. Who are these normal people? I can use 3GB in 3 days. And I consider myself a normal user!

Furthermore I cannot operate my online businesses effectively especially when I need to back up my databases over the net. There's no package affordable that enables me to do that. I have to pay a friend at EV1servers to back it up on DVD for me and post it to South Africa.

If I was in Sweden or Holland my online businesses would have boomed a long time ago and I would have probably employed around 5 people full time. But today I'm still a one man business owner.

Its an issue of great contention - a while back a forumite showed that it would be cheaper to fly to Hong Kong to download 100gb rather than doing it locally. Fantastic eh?

There are some higher or even uncapped solutions available but at a premium. Might be worth looking into though.

With any luck prices will one day decrease to more realistic level.

BTW - Nice nick - Newyork - you from there too?

Indeed, 1-2gig is ridiculous in this day and age!

That will get you a month's worth of very light browsing and no downloads or streaming of any kind, which kinda negates the purpose is broadband in the 1st place.

10gigs would be a good place to start placing a cap and go from there.

And when u say the isps tell us that 1-2gig is enough, its really actually telkom telling us that.

Well i agree that 2GBs is ridiculous in todays times and the 'average' user gets through a lot more than 2GBs a month but most people cant even afford the sorry excuse for ADSL we have in SA. We get charged for the 'privilege' of having a DSL line AND we have ISP fees. Nobody should have to pay more than a flat R200 to have ADSL at home. I need access @home for varsity stuff but its just too $$$

These silly little caps are the creation of the devil.
