So as we get nearer to Christmas, I thought I'd start a thread about how you are planning on making a difference to some stranger/s this year. This isn't a brag thread by any means .... just an inspiring one.

Apart from supporting my 'regulars', the www.mouthandfootpaintersrsa.org, I have a plan in place that involves an elderly car couple at my centre. Lovely people that have just recently fallen on bad times and have taken to begging to get by. What makes it worse is that the wife is clearly very embarrassed by it all. So anyway, my plan is that I'm going to give them a card probably the week leading up to Christmas .... with R2000 in it :D My family is putting in 1k and I'm putting the rest. I just feel that I've had a decent year this year and would like that someone else in need has a decent year too.

Please add your stories/plans and lets see how 'catching' we can make it :D

*Note - if you wanna 'have a go' at people for stating what they will be partaking in ..... please don't (as was evidenced in HC's thread). Just go away instead.

Well i donate 150 bucks to meals on wheels every month, so i doubt i will doing anything other than ordering diaries from the cancer and calendars from this other place. Although i may not order the calendars as they sent me a threating legal letter last year because i did not pay, no phone call nothing just a letter threatening legal.

I have still not payed and they have still not phoned, a simple phone call asking if i had payed would have been in better taste, threatening me with legal action for a simple thing like this did not sit well with me.

Christmas isn't suppose to make a difference. People aren't hungrier over Christmas time than during the rest of the year.

We are going on a road trip through the small towns of the Northern and Western Cape during December / January and I plan on taking along a boot full of clothing and other items to distribute along the way.

I do not celebrate Christmas either, because I am not religious.

I do understand other people getting into the spirit of sharing, though. Would be lovely if people were this generous 365 days a year.

Oh so you get a bonus every month of the year do you, wow, you're lucky ..... this is exactly the type of shyte I asked peeps not to bother posting

Well basically I am going to get up, scratch myself and get back into bed....immidiately feeling good.

And I give every month to the SPCA (dont forget them, far more valuable than people in my opinion), muscular dystrophy (spelling??) and meals on wheels

I will contribute in a different way...........
It costs nothing, but creates much. It enriches those who receive, without impoverishing those who give. It happens in a flash and the memory of it, sometimes lasts forever. None are so rich they can get along without it, and none so poor, but are richer for its benefits.
It creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in a business, and is the countersign of friends. It cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is no earthly good to anybody till it is given away!

A smile!

All I'm saying is that instead of partaking in the traditional Festive Spirit to make us feel good ... and then, by implication, act like heartless *******s the rest of the year, we should rather spread out our goodwill the whole year.

My post isn't to be negative but rather to be a variation of the positive.

well seeing as I won't have anything to give, I'd rather wait till the new year when I can make a difference for someone.

We have been planning to get involved in our church food distribution programme - as we were helped quite a few times. So we would like to give back to others
