I thought this was gonna have monthly fees but it seems to be free to play.
Anyways, check it out here http://www.tcos.com/en/index.html

Will let ya guys know how it is when its done downloading and I got a chance to try it out.

Hi Xyber,

AFAIK with TCOS we are bundled with US and you will not be able to play on EU servers. (They do IP blocking so your client would not be able to log in)
US UK SA AUS NZ are bundled to provide large enough numbers for US ppl to play :(

Acclaim handles the US side of things and progress is now basicly moving onto BETA stage only..so some time still before ppl in SA can play it. http://spellborn.acclaim.com/

I been following this game for a long time and this move sort of stop my interest completely which is a pity

OOPS forgot to add that the first 7 Levels only is free. (aka trial) To progress further you have to change to a P2P plan.

Announcement on spellborns site re: FREE2PLAY --

Hi Spellborn Community,

Today, I'd like to address concerns you guys voiced after the press release from Acclaim.

So first, TCoS is NOT a Free2Play game.

There is indeed a Free2Play ZONE, ie the starting area. We, Devs, are still looking into the extent of said area. That means, that you, players, can test the game for free, and then have to go for a regular subscription to continue playing the game and level up your character. No subscription equals to being stuck in free2play zone.

Second, there are NO item malls, there is NO item selling.

To sum up:

You can play the beginning of the game for free. This allows you to see whether you like Spellborn or not. If you do like it (we hope so Smile), then you go for a subscription and that's it! Nothing more, nothing less, just go ahead and continue playing.

Rather than offering the usual "14 days trial" or similar, we decided to go for this free2play starting zone. This will allow you more time to get a good feel on the combat system and on the questing, and in general to give a good impression on what Spellborn is all about

Thanx :)

Bah,, hate it when they don't make it clear that its not actually free to play. Guess if I dug further I would have seen it but was too excited when I noticed, downlaod and play free ;-/ And now I'm almost done downloading the big installs. Oh, and I'm downloading Eu client I think.. will see if it works when I'm done.

only "free" mmo im into except gw, wow or aoc is bloodymare requiem. I would however suggest that you get the unofficial updater if you want to give it a try...

Xyber, Apparantly running through a EU based proxy server will also help you sign up to the game and play your EU free client. Anyway thats what I see some ppl suggested on forums -- hope it helps :)

Thanks, was just about to ask how I'm gonna pull off playing this game :)
