For purposes of posterity I kept track of the following regarding a business venture.

24 November 2015 - Thinking of registering a PTY Ltd
25 November 2015 - EFT money into my CIPC account then realise I have a balance of R125 credit in that account, so only EFT R50
25 November 2015 - Submits 4 names for reservation
27 November 2015 - Get a response that the last of the 4 names in the list was accepted. Not the one I really wanted, but fsck it!
27 November 2015 - During lunch, take a stroll to the Post Office and have a copy of my ID certified
27 November 2015 - Get back to the office just after 2 and email copy of ID and registration letter to the CIPC

Dear Taxpayer, An important notification has been issued and is attached to this mail. Please respond or act as stated on the letter. Should you require any additional assistance please phone our SARS Contact Centre on 0800007277.

Well done, guys. Now this is what you call service delivery, 4 days to incorporate a company!!! What's more, they've saved me the hassle of going to SARS to register for tax, that's pretty good integration, right there. :)

To some this might not seem like much, but having registered companies for friends and family before, it usually took at least a month and you had to send your documents via registered mail to them.

Another happy customer :)

Some people manage to get everything done within a day, it depends on whether your name gets approved automatically or if it needs to go through the manual process. The auto process takes an hour at most and the latter could be up to 3 days.

2015-01-01: Decide to register a business.
2015-01-15: Go online to register business - error in system. Report error.
2015-12-04: CIPC has yet to reply. Useless just like everything else in this ANC infested ****hole.

Same experience here! Very effective. Even the SARS office IT system worked like a dream! Standard bank opened account in 2 hours!
