The other day I picked a packet of Antigua Medium Blend on the spur on the moment in Checkers to try out Cold Brewing myself.

The Methodology For Making Cold Brew:

**Soak Coffee Grounds In Room Temperature/Cold Water for 12-14 Hours (for every 1g of coffee add 7 ml of water)

**Filter Grains through a siv and then filter another 2 more times through a wet paper towel.

At the end of this you will have a coffee concentrate that will last up to 2 weeks in the fridge.

I went off Recipe and went for a ratio of 1:2, going to be really concentrated but I do like strong coffee.

Anybody try it out before please share tips and tricks as well as Recipes

**Oops thread supposed titled "The Cold Brew Coffee Thread" Mods please fix.

I buy mine - Mighty Monk Coffee - it's amazing.

I use cheap beans for cold brew - I can't taste as much at that temperature.

Also, this thread is just in time for winter :D

Same. You don't even need beans, I buy the Woolworths Italian Ground Coffee and it works just as well. I've compared to other, more expensive, just roasted coffee beans and you can't really taste a difference.

The reason is that because there's no heat pulling out all the bad notes and flavours, you're left with just an awesome taste from the good parts of the coffee that are extracted from the cold method.

I usually have a batch brewing in the fridge every two days because we go through it so fast. My routine is usually Aeropress Finca El Morito in the morning, cold brew in the afternoon.

My method:
50g Woolworths Italian Blend Coffee
700g Water

I weigh out the two and add them to a french press. I keep it out the counter for a couple of hours, stirring occasionally. The I secure the top with some gladwrap, and it goes in the fridge, where I'll pull it out and stir when I remember.

After 24 hours, I plunge it into a Consol milk-style bottle where it'll keep for a while - not that it gets a chance.

Also great to take camping, and just top up with some hot water/heat up over the fire for an instant great hit of coffee in the morning.

I have tried my batch of cold brew, first I tried making regular coffee (hot), first time I've had hot coffee made from cold brew, It was more like having a cup of rooibos than a cup of regular coffee (kind of soothing), as the coffee cooled down it started to resemble regular coffee, just way mellower,

What ratio do you mix normal cold brew coffee "concentrate" with hot water?

Off topic but have any of you tried Nitro Coffee?
