First beer in New Zealand :D

Don't think I'll buy this again. Very very bitter.

Question... Did you drink it from the bottle?

If you did, the sediment would have mixed into the beer. You pour a Duvel very carefully into a glass and you leave the sediment behind in the bottle. Also, a glass like the one below will bring out the aroma, which is a massive part of the experience. You will get hardly any aroma from the bottle.

the sediment is all the good stuff

Eish. In some beers maybe... Not a Duvel.

From the Duvel website:

A Duvel is ready to drink if it has been chilled in the refrigerator to the ideal temperature of about 5°C. Another equally important factor is a clean, dry Duvel glass at room temperature.

A beer that takes 90 days to brew should be poured with respect. So don't rush, take your time and pour the beer slowly into the glass, holding it at a slight angle.

Leave about 1 cm of beer in the bottle. This contains the yeast which can make the beer rather cloudy and bitter.

Thanks for this. I have a glass like this and another duvel. Will test it tonight and report back!

Cool. Let us know. It still has a bit of an alcohol burn, because of the high volume... but a couple of those in quick succession, puts you on the coolest beer buzz.
