ok, so new to this discussion, but looking for some advice:

I won a 'craft' beer kit, with a 15l brewing jar and some 'pale ale' starter kit.

So my first question, where in my house do i do this, so that the temperature is consistent? seems it must be 24 - 26 C ? Do i also use filtered water for the brewing?

EDIT: and where do i buy proper beer ingredients for this kit?

Where in house > The coolest room you can find (a spare bathroom usually works great)

Consistent temp > It's tricky if you can't control the temp in the room or inside a 'chamber' ... Google temperature controlled fermentation and look at the options. Inside a bathroom you can also try the "t-shirt" trick to lower temps .... here is one vid on that, but once again Google will give you more options ;)

- Even if that kit says 24-26ºC, try to aim closer to ±19º ( but with that kit yeast you'll be fine at 24º )

Filtered water > Yes that's fine for kit brews as the water used for making that kit more than likely already had the neccessary water adjustments done.

EDIT: Do you have a picture of said kit ??

Weirdish taste. Only a hint of banana bread but only in the aftertaste. Not bad but wont buy it again.

I will call it interesting

It was. Picked it up in Hermanus, made in the Hemel en Aarde vallei. Closest ale I've had to the best AKA Double Owl by Wild Clover.
