The Craft Beer Thread

A couple of the craft beers I had in the US

The purple haze was crap trying to get too fancy with fruit, Trappists do it better

This is how you can buy beers at the local PnP equivalent, Publix, off the shelf or out of the fridge in store, not a separate bottle store section like we have, also much bigger variety, like every thing else in the US.

Also your average pharmacy and gas station also sell by the case or singles

Has DP always had the saison? For the life of me can't remember seeing it. CBC also has

OK so I actually poured it down the drain. Some people should not be allowed to make beer.

Onto Wild Clovers Double Owl. Still one of my favourites.

I think that's the first time Wild Clover has been mentioned.

I pop into their brewery every second/third Saturday morning after some archery (also at Wild Clover Estate). Not a big fan of Porter in general, but have found their's to be quite palatable. Their Belgian wit (Eagle "Weiss") is a bit of a hit and miss for me. Some batches come out great, whereas others are somewhat flat (in carbonation and palate). Pilsner is nicely crisp (as it should be).

If you head out that way, make sure to stop at Bottelary Hills Wine Center (further down the road towards Stellenbosch) as they also have selection of local and international craft beers.

Yes. Mentioned them earlier in thread :)

For anyone interested, Liquor City in Groenkloof has a special on Drayman's beers at the mo. Buy three of the same flavour and get the fourth one free.

For all the guys in Gauteng don't forget about the Capital Craft beer festival on 13 June 2015 at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria.

Last year's festival was excellent. Found some really good brews that I haven't tasted before and the festival food was amazing. Looking forward to having some of Clarens' finest again, the IPA and Blonde really stood out. Can't seem to find them anywhere else in Pretoria so will be filling up at the festival.

Woohoo. Just got big ups from Master Chef winner, Kamini Pather.

It's actually a hybrid ale though, not a lager.

Haha long week - I'm gonna whup yo ass! Starting off with the Copperlake dark lager. Very nice.

I think Cederbrew and Copperlake are my favorite local brewers right now. They both do a really nice Weiss, Cederbrew has a good stout and Copperlake have a nice dark lager. I've enjoyed all the beers from both of them.

Hmmm the Rooi Baard looks interesting.
Didn't have too strong a rooibos taste. I suspect it might even have been honeybush. Quite nice - I'll try it again. Seems like one of those beers that varies quite a bit from one bottle to the next.

Just had a beer called "Happy Pills" from Woodstock Breweries which was quite lekker!

Indeed, had my tickets for awhile now, looking forward to tomorrow!

Being fairly new to craft beer scene, will def. give the abovementioned a try, or two, depending on what I think of it! :D
