The Craft Beer Thread

My lips are numb.
I might be a wuss.

Yikes. Just came to the sad realization that I haven't had a sour beer yet. Anything available locally? Quite sure there was one posted a few pages back.

Devils Peak had one out at some point in the past - could only buy and consume at their tasting room though.

I've had 2 recently - 1 from Belgian and one from the States - 1 brought in for me by my parents - and the other by a friend.

Don't know of any others available locally.

Makes you wonder what is going through their minds...

Yeah. I already feel like a total idiot for having built a brewery that only does 400l per batch. I'd have made it at least twice that big if I were starting over.

Who are you catering for? The whole neighbourhood? You aren't homebrewing then...

Triggerfish had a sour beer (IIRC called Pufferfish). They would bring it to festivals and you could get it at their brewery.

Excuse my ignorance and lack of feeling like searching on Google, but what is a sour beer?

Simply put:

A beer intentionally infected with bacteria to give it a sour flavour - generally from the production of lactic acid during fermentation.

It can get a little more complicated than that - but you get the gist of it.

Yep, I'm not homebrewing.
Ah, ok got you!

Some of the smaller brewers use smaller fermenters to get their different brews on tap quicker - Irish Ale House and Anvil Ale House come to mind here. AFAIK, both only have single fermenters.
