The Craft Beer Thread

Off to Liquor City in a short while to do some shopping. Probably see one of you there. Glug glug glug.

Already passed by the Bottelary Hills Wine Centre in Stellenbosch today and its Craft Beer section hijacked me :p

hmmm, might need to get down to Copperlake over the weekend

GUEST BREWS ON TAP THIS WEEKEND:

Vincent Le Roux Irish Red Ale & Trevor Gernholtz Rebel Red
Moderate malt aroma and slight caramel like flavour to this deep red coloured ale. Low hop aroma and bitterness, slight taste of roasted grain in the finish complimenting the dry fully fermented character of this style. An easy drinking pint, malt focused with a dry finish.

Brendan's Chocolate Cream
A delicious mild roasted grain aroma with dominant dark chocolate aroma and taste, creamy texture and off white head, A dark, sweet full bodied espresso/chocolate beer to ward away the onset of winter.

David’s Passionate Belgian
A single hop beer, showcasing one of the great South African hops, the Southern Passion. It has a slight malty character to support the hop flavour. Which gives an intense passion fruit aroma and flavour. With a pleasant lingering bitterness masking the strength from the ABV being 9.3% As the beer warms in the glass the beer transforms from a hop forward rush of passion fruit to a well-balanced Belgian character with delicious fruitiness.

Brendan's Best Bitter
An English beer with bready-biscuit, lightly toasty malt complexity. Moderate bitterness with fruity character and a dry finish.

Brendan's Chocolate Cream sounds yum. Finally got round to trying this:

I'm a sucka for dark beers and stouts so I'm happy with it :).

That's Birkenheads best beer imo.
I need to try the rest. There's two of them I haven't tried yet....I just know I've had one with the green text on the label :). This is a very nice stout - kinda thing I could easily drink daily. I'm really enjoying the selection of local beers right now - I've got a few favorites and I haven't bothered with regular beer in ages. Don't really mind something like a Castle on tap if there's nothing else but regular bottled beer? Meh. Gimme that delicious craft beer any day.

I also like my dark beers, stouts and porters were all I had a the craft festival last weekend, Brendan's is the main reason for hopefully getting to Copperlake this weekend :)

Hope you make it :). Copperlake are definitely one of my favorites right now...their dark lager is ace. Be sure to post some pics of that Chocolate Cream if you go...and please make it a scratch and sniff picture.
