The Craft Beer Thread

Im not the biggest fan of Weiss in this style, I tried these a few weeks ago when I was trying to decide what to brew next.

This is actually really nice. But I'll go back to buying stellenbrau again for a bit, I can drink more with out being affected.

Yeah my father in law enjoyed it when I gave him some to try. Im generally more of an ale fan so maybe Im a little biased.

Weiss generally is an ale, just FYI :P Ale covers a large variety of beers, just like lager cover a large variety of beers. Ale just refers to the type of yeast used, that's pretty much it.

I'm also not a big wheat beer guy. There are one or two that's nice, and I'll definitely drink it if you pour me one, but I won't buy or brew it for myself. I like other stuff more.

Damn, this beer is strong. Not used to a 9% beer for sure, wow. Most of my homebrews come in at around 4%. I like it. Bummer about the price tag. It warmed up a bit now and it actually opened up nicely. There's more than just toast in there now. Picking up raisins, oak and definitely notes of molasses and burnt sugar. Slight hint of caramel in the finish? Long finish. Like, loooooooong.

We had Brendan from Frontier on a meet the brewers tasting a couple of weeks back. Very interesting guy and some really cool beers

They're working with Hazeldean quite a bit. I have a friend at Hazeldean so I get a bunch of these "special" beers from them. I gotta admit not all are to my liking, but this one sure was. Bummer about the 340ml size. I've gotten used to 660ml beers.

Yeah Marius was on too. Their Apricot sour was honestly one of the best South African beers I have tasted

I haven't had that one, but I had a lambic they also made. I absolutely hated it. I have to add, I'm not a sour-loving person at all. Like sour worms and so on - yeah no.
