They got 65% in 2009. I hope 63% maximum this time round. And I would like to see much bigger gains from the DA than last time round. I'll be happy if the DA take over another ward / province, other than WC. Am I just dreaming by hoping they will take GP? :(

I'm right there with you brother...

I think 60 - 63% was a given, but no more. What we need to see is a steady decline in their support every election and conversely a steady increase in the DA's support. If they reach 65% again then I'd be bitterly disappointed. If they break 66% I'd probably cry.

So 2% drop per election? Great. So by 2046 we'll have them under 50%. :(

It would be great if they could take GP but I'd settle for them taking WC and any other province to give us some indication of progress.

They won't though. Which is bitterly disappointing. Loosing hope in any sort of progress in this country. :(

If things go the way they look to be going, and the elections are free and fair, it's even more depressing that if it was rigged. It would mean people in this country genuinely aren't interested in having an accountable government.
Funny enough is at the moment it seems to be even worse than before. Currently ANC 60% + EFF 4.31%
already almost at the 67% mark and its only going to get worse.

Also, 218 232 insane people in this country so far, watch out for them

It depends on your source. News24 says 59.99% and M&G say 57%.

M&G has been saying 57% for a very long time - probably broken as well. The only one that seems to be working is News24

This is how I see it. Let's say for argument sake I do agree with what the VF+ stand for, but even more so, hate what the ANC is doing to this country. Why would I vote for a party, who has no hope in hell to make any impact, if I can at least try and vote against the ANC by voting for their biggest opponent. Also, if the biggest opponent have proved what a big difference they can make, even if it is just in 1 province.

Why would I then vote for anybody but the DA?

There are only two parties that have taken the ANC to court over e-tolls, the DA and the VF+. Doesn't sound like a no impact at all party to me. They are fighting above their weight class and I respect that.

maybe i'm being unclear.

currently the VF+ has 1.1% of the total votes. yes, those votes are votes not cast for the ANC, which is good. But they would have been better served to vote for the DA, to try and get the DA to be the majority and ruling party, make sense?

I don't agree. If those people wanted to vote for the DA they would have (myself included). I don't like the current direction that the DA is taking and I feel that they are alienating their original supporter base. I also can't ignore the fact that there was no accountability whatsoever when it came epic failure that was the DA-AGANG merger. If it wasn't for the last item I would probably have voted for the DA.

I'd say break the giant first, get ANC < 49% then worry about other parties majority
