I've created this thread to serve as a place for Electro-heads to discuss Electronic music.

Electronic music has many sub-genres, such as Ambient, Drum and bass, Breakbeat, Downbeat, House, Techno, Trance, IDM, Nu-jazz, Trip hop, Ambient etc.

Personally, I dislike commercial House/Trance music.

I've recently been listening to Wisp, an IDM artist. His stuff is quite chilled, dreamy, hypnotic and somewhat theraputic. You can download some of his albums here for free, they are really good! I would probably recommend the "Selected Ambient Works 2: Reworked" album for anyone interested in checking out what kind of stuff Wisp makes.

I also love Nu-jazz/Electronic jazz. Some artists I can recommend are Cinematic Orchestra, Skalpel, Jaga Jazzist, Funki Porcini and Xploding Plastix.

My favorite Electronic record label is Ninja Tune.

Happy listening

you a fan of goldfish? The SA group? man they are brilliant! New album out very soon, not sure exactly when though

Yes I'm a fan! One of my good friends is family friends with Dave, so I know them quite well :D

All I have to add is:

The Knife
VNV Nation

Well worth checking out!!

If you like Electro, download Calvertron's July 2007 mix off his MySpace page. Good stuffs :D

/me laments the decline of so many good electro tunes into the depths of Ministry of Sound hell.

"Oh this is an excellent electro tune. It's perfect as it is. So lets paste some arb vocals over it to make it more commercial!!!!"

I used to be big into DnB in the late 90's and then techno/electro a few years back, but haven't really listened to much electronic stuff in the last couple of years. The last good album I bought was Booka Shade's Movements.

Fave label is Warp.

Locally, anything from "the Deeper Sounds of ..." is the bomb.

NRK records is also the bizniz!

Release next month. They delayed it. Very busy organising their July tour.

Can't remember where I saw them in 2006 but pretty sure it was CT EarthDance. Wherever it was, it was incredible. Funky and fun stuff.

Nice album that, kept it in the car :D

I tend to listen to more doef-doef stuff when I'm out.

Nice Artists

I smaak Amon Tobin (he actually made me go deeper into Electronic after stuff like Prefuse 73 got me there), Aphex, K&D, LTJ, Massive Attack & Unkle - all been quite influencial on me.

Glitch anyone?

Autechre?

I went through a patch of listening to that faster IDM. Venetian Snares is also pretty sick.

Sounds like some interesting artists. Only recognise St. Germain (and Daft Punk), used to listen to him a lot. Are the others all also loungey-type stuff?
