Not sure if there's a dedicated thread and perhaps it'll be quiet in here, but I thought I'd start one for general EV discussions.
On the subject, are there any EV bargains to be had? I'm guessing bargain and cutting edge tech don't go hand in hand.
Who on this forum own an EV?

I drove next to a guy on an electric motorcycle yesterday - an ST something or other. Had a chat. It has some really decent acceleration and didn't make too much of a noise. Quite whiny as electric motors are, but not upsettingly so.

It was his first time riding it so he couldn't give any range figures, but it looked decent.

very interesting video, EV's will only take off when the infrastructure gets built,
and here locally in Africa, even South Africa, not going to happen anytime soon for EV's
we barely have infrastructure for normal Cars.

At best, we can only do Hybrid, and I can foreseen, people would prefer to have Hybrid rather than EV. It is not like we all living in Europe or Asia.

Hybrid is still a waste,
2 engines, besides the complexity, cost and weight,
why not go all EV or Fuel cell then,

Full EV, needs to heavy batteries, and in SA or any developing countries it doesn't work.
Fuel Cell, not a proven tech, and storage of hydrogen is still a question mark for me

nice video on EV maintenance, again I maintain EV's are too expensive locally for them to truly take off, and its very sad

also why cant the batteries be built modular, (planned obsolescence) easy to swap out and keep driving.
(maybe even a robot arm, or in SA, done manually with a couple of big guys)

or again, is there some giant conspiracy from big gas to prevent EV's from taking off.
