Ok since most of us are new to the Explora, lets post our initial findings and or reviews in here.

I got mine today and after unboxing I realised...this thing is HUGE!!!

In terms of volumetric, its easily at least double the size of the HD-PVR-2P, I kid you not!

Secondly, since my HTPC is in the lounge I moved the LAN cable from the HTPC to the decoder and contrary to what was the case with all the previous models, this one's ethernet port seems to be enabled! Whoohooo!

I know this because after I plugged in, I logged into my router and noticed a device with an IP of 10.0.0.10, and since my HTPC, DVR and PC has fixed IP's only our phones/tablets were left, but since these all have an "android" prefix as under hostname, this new device had none. I even unplugged, verified, reinserted and verified again to make sure.

So for once, the ethernet port is active! It even replies when pinged :)

Feel free to add more!

Here's some pics. Apologies for the weird angle and quality. The phone was charging and I was too lazy to get up :D

I'm very sceptical that DSTV wrote the software on this thing. Its just too good/cool :p

Just not a huge fan of the line up taking up so much space on the screen. But other than that it looks good.

Actually its two lines by default. you can change it to any number you like :)

I set mine to four lines

I just got an explora and just cant get any signal at all. Using a satcr connection. Tried straight into the decoder. Tried using the switch. Called MC. Couldnt help. So watch out if you have a satcr connection guys

There was a post some where or a news article that mentioned from MC that not all SatCR lnbs are supported and that they recommend at least a twin lnb for signal...can't remember where though...

Reaper, you should PM "Quantum Theory". He knows a lot about these decoders...and to be honest, I think he works for MC, but will never admit it :D

He works with MC, not for them... Could be an unsupported SatCR LNB. The user band frequencies on some are not standard.

How about pics of the unit next to a old PVR or something if common-know size so that we can gauge the "hugeness" of the appliance.

Well unfortunately I can't help with that as I gave my 2P away to a friend :(

Size is slightly taller but a little narrower. Not too ugly but not the best Ive seen. At least its quiet.

Wouldnt I be able to get the frequencies from my old pvr and then use them on the new unit. I cannot recall having to change them on the old UEC hdpvr

Ill try get a pic of it next to the old UEC HDPVR. Remote looks cool but appreantly its not universal as well. Talk about going backwards
