The Explora thread

****, that's giant.
Yup, I actually now have to buy a TV stand as its too big to fit where the old decoder was. As you can see I just plugged it in, thats the reason for the cables being such a mess at the back.

Do you still need a secondary eishkom power station to power it?

That name is enough to put me off :sick:

Talking about Eskom - what is the power consumption like now.

Sure the more tasks you do like play from hard drive consumes more electricity
No idea. I also think this one has a normal PC hard drive in whereas the previous ones had 2.5 inch drives. But i'm not too sure about that.

Hey Quantum. Got an interesting question.
I have just self installed an Explora from a dual LNB using the supplied switch in the box. Works like a charm. Everything a OK.
Here's the trick. To take my 4 tuner UEC PVR (Silver) and use that for my dual view set-up. Which is the better option? To run all 4 cables from the switchbox or install a SatCR LNB and run the single cable to the dual view 4 tuner PVR? Will I still have full PVR functionality using the single cable into the SatCR input of the 4 tuner?

Let me know what you think?

Just use the 4 outputs on the Explora switch. A SatCR would need another dish

Depends if the decoders are stacked together, or in seperate rooms... I assume what he wants to do is run the SatCR from the LNB to the 4 tuner in 1 room, while running the 2 legacy outputs to the Explora switch in another room. So, are they together or apart Edit Man?

They are in separate rooms and would I need to change dishes as well.

Dish is ok. So if i run a single cable to the SatCR input I should have all the functionality of the PVR. ie. Box Office, Catchup etc. and would I still retain 1 watch and 2 record channels.
Many thanks

Explora Dimensions are:

Length = 420mm

Width = 260mm

Height = 70mm

Just bought one today, geezuz it's big. I'm actually pissed of about it, 'm trying to downsize and streamline my entertainment setup.. It only shows damn satellite and it's twice my PS3's size...:(
