Zille: The Fight is On

Helen Zille visited Lindelani, KwaZulu-Natal, two days ago as part of early campaigning for 2014, delivering a feisty speech as usual.

KZN has traditionally been one of the DA's more difficult provinces, and they have struggled with breaking new ground since 1999. The history of political violence in the province, among other things, have been a serious roadblock.

Now though support appears to be growing, as in many other provinces.

Viva DA

You mean it grew from 3? :p

Glad to see people wisening up with their ability to vote

Won't be long before the anc claim they are cheating by offering to actually provide services and not to be corrupt.

People are gatvol all over the place, next election's are going to be very interesting.

I agree, I personally think there are going to big changes..... i honestly hope so... another 5 years of what we have now will break the proverbial camel's back.

I seriously hope people vote different. But I see ANC throw few t-shirts and were back to square 1

Very good to see. We need a proper opposition party.

You're correct on the first part. People are gatvol. However I don't believe anything will chance in next years elections. I, with every bean in my body hope it does - but I don't see it happening.

We've been saying "Another 5 years and we're done" for the last decade. Yet - ANC still rule. What's different this time round?

I suspect old, shower head's, house and his role as President have seriously damaged the ANC, along with the E-tolls. A lot has happened in five years. I wonder if the ANC have been damaged enough though?

That's my worry. :(

A blowjob will make your day but sodomy will make your hole weak!

Serious ANC supporters will not switch votes. The best we can hope for is that they don't vote at all, or the rest ANC's votes go to Agang and EFF. The DA is making great strides and people are beginning to see that they're a strong party. While it is still people's votes, i get ticked off that they vote for all these minority parties with agendas.

I don't want them to vote MY way, I want them to vote for the party that is going to have the more positive effect. If the ACDP party was bigger than the DA, i'd even encourage voting for them even though i loathe the party, but you need a strong opposition

The ANC is well entrenched in Power, and will likely not be voted out anytime soon.

But it is unmistakeble that the DA in the last few years has grown in black communities in a way that is totally unprecedented in the past. For instance, between 1999 and 2009 the DA only grew from 8% to 9% in KwaZulu-Natal. Next year they will clearly do much better.

But change takes time. For now it is good that they focus mostly on the urbanised Gauteng, with its big middle class and better access to information. Change will begin in the metros, IMO.
