The Flat Earth Society

Join today! The only thing the flat earth society fears is sphere itself. :D
:D Nice one.

Seeing people on the internet getting all face-palmy-vexed about the Flat Earth Society is pretty chuckleworthy. They don't seem to realise they're being had by a bunch of pretty smart people able to refute the currently fashionable globe-earth hypothesis.

The funniest thing of all - and this gives much mirth to Flat Earth Society members - is that people like Musk and Neil deGrasse Tyson get all serious about refuting flat-earthism. "Look how kleva I am! I can refute flat earth theory!", never realising that the joke's on them.

I agree with the taking the piss part, but they refuted? Mind providing sauce?

My own experience with Flat-Earth Society members is several decades ago and turned me off them completely.

They seem to me to be a bunch of smart-alecs who take childish glee in talking slightly dimmer people into accepting their rhetoric.

They have all the appearance, to dullish folks, of being intelligent, but they're really just carnies.

I've never met a Flat-Earth Society member who is an actual hard scientist, but I bet there are people who'd love to prove me wrong.

They remind me mostly of smart-arsed Christian preacher types, who learn a spiel and then love applying it for the sheer joy of flummoxing other people.

I've seen it in action, and it makes me want to go rinse my mouth out with something.

Wait...are you actually saying they're not just a taking-the-piss society like the church of the flying spagetti monster?

His Noodly Acolytes I can get behind, but these Flat-Earth carnie barkers are pretty boring.

I wonder if this belief originated from prehistoric times, where wandering away from the community "over the horizon" or "earth's edge" was taboo.
So are the FE's saying the round sun, moon, planets, distant stars are also 'flat', or was earth unique? Gee....

Q: "Why doesn't water run off the Earth?"

A: There is a vast "ice wall" that keeps the water where it is. This explains why you can find a vast plane of ice as you travel southward. The wall is roughly 150ft high. In the McIntyre model, however, the height of the wall increases further as one moves toward the edge of the world.

What do they have to say about white walkers :D

The 'attention received' to 'stunt' ratio is too small.

Oh right, but he could've fired his rocket from there and gotten even more distance ;-) instead of only 500m he could've made a km ;-)

No one's going to allow him to fire a rocket from the top of their building. I'm surprised he's being allowed to launch from anywhere else really.

I know ;-) also I don't think they care if it's far enough away from civilization that he cannot hurt anyone else.
