Update, 10:00am, December 15, 2022: Today, Ford officially announced the SAE-certified horsepower figures for the 2024 Mustang lineup. The base-model 2024 Mustang EcoBoost makes 315 hp (up from 310) and 350 lb-ft of torque, which Ford describes as “the most standard horsepower ever” in a Mustang. The automaker estimates the EcoBoost-powered Mustang will get 22 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined, an increase of 2 mpg highway and 1 mpg combined. The 2024 Mustang GT makes 486 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque with the optional active-valve performance exhaust. Without the active exhaust, the GT makes 480 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque, which Ford says is the most standard power ever in a naturally-aspirated V8 Mustang. (The current Mustang GT makes 450 hp and 410 lb-ft.) And finally, the top-of-the-line performance model, the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse, makes 500 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque from an upgraded version of the Coyote 5.0-liter V8. According to Ford, that makes the Dark Horse “the most powerful non-Shelby edition ever.”

All-electric Ford Mustang to go into production in 2029
The current seventh-generation Ford Mustang, also known as the S650, will continue to be produced until 2029, when the all-electric, redesigned Mustang will begin production. This information was provided by AutoForecast Solutions, a company that uses various factors, including supply agreements and factory conditions, to make predictions.
It is expected that the S650 Mustang, which was introduced earlier this year, will be discontinued around the start of 2029. This will give Ford time to make any necessary changes to the production plant. It is likely that the Flat Rock Assembly factory near Detroit, Michigan, which has been the site for Mustang production since 2004, will be responsible for building the fully electric model.
According to the report, it is thought that the Mustang EV will be based on Ford's GE2.2 platform. This is the same platform that will be used for the second generation Mustang Mach-E, a new Mach-E Coupe, and the electric versions of the Escape and Explorer. It is understandable that there is currently limited information available about the Mustang EV.
The current generation of the Mustang Mach-E uses the GE1 specialized electric vehicle architecture. The GE2.2 platform, which will be used for the eighth-generation Mustang, will only support electric vehicles, so the new Mustang will not have a gasoline-powered internal combustion engine.

It has become fairly common in the US for manufacturers to auction off the very first example of their new cars for charity, and the figures that said cars sell for are often eye-watering.
Take the latest example – this is VIN 001 of the new 2024 Ford Mustang GT, and it just sold at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction for $490,000. That’s quite the donation from the winning bidder.
The money will go to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and we’re told that during the auction an extra $75,000 was donated by two further philanthropists, meaning the final total stands at $565,000.

Ford Mustang Super Cobra Jet 1800 - a record seeking electric missile
Ford already holds the world record for the fastest quarter-mile electric car. In 2020 the company brought the Mustang Cobra 1400 to a dragstrip and recorded a time of 8.128 seconds at 171.97 mph. Despite being called 1400, the Mustang in question had 1,502 hp and Ford decided that it wasn’t fast enough.
What happens to a horse that’s not fast enough? Yup, this pony went under a knife. Ford engineers decided the 1,502 hp electric motor wasn’t monstrous enough and went in search of more power. They are returning with a completely reworked 1,800 hp dragstrip missile called Ford Mustang Super Cobra Jet 1800.
The two electric motors (in tandem) develop at least 1,800 hp according to the company. The inverters and the motors are actually the same as the previous setup but the transmission is all new. The battery pack is new as well and it weighs much less. The rear suspension has been improved to deal with the increased power and the changes are completed by a set of bigger rear tires for more grip.
