The Ford Ranger (T6) Thread

Easy. Go to Mazda parts and ask for a 2012 Mazda 3 bee sting antenna. Let me go take a pic of the one on my Ranger quick

Thank you but that one is also going to be to long. (how long is that one?)
It catches the garage door (existing one).
I have seen one that folds flat on a Ranger before. When googling came across the Stubby Jr Antenna which is about 5cm long which should work then, or i need to get one that can fold flat.

200mm from where you screw it onto the base to the top tip.

On my MY2017 my base is adjustable as well so I can lower or raise the antenna stalk

Tested: Ford Ranger 2.0 Turbo offers impressive value

VERDICT

On paper the Ford Ranger 2.0 Turbo XLT 4x4 offers really good value in relation to its rivals, and we’re pleased to report that this holds true in the real world too. With reasonable performance, impressive refinement, a decent ride by bakkie standards and a price tag that considerably undercuts key rivals, this bakkie impresses as a great all rounder.

On the 2019 the antenna is at the back of the cab and also comes with the 200mm one.
My 2013 one had the long one in front which I swapped with a Hilux short antenna (200mm).
That worked fine for the 2013 but now it is at the back of the cab and is just to long and catches the garage door.

At the moment I just removed the antenna completely (I am going to forget to unscrew it one day and rip it off)

Still looking for a shorter option.

US-spec Ford Ranger offerred with uprated (dealer-fitted) Fox suspension

Ford in the United States has added a dealer-fitted off-road “levelling kit” for 4x4 variants of the Ranger to its Ford Performance Parts catalogue.

Tick the appropriate box in the US and the dealer will add aluminium Fox shock bodies (designed to provide “ample cooling capacity over rough terrain”), new front coilover springs, model-specific upper front mounts with polyurethane bushings (helping to “isolate noise and vibration”) and a two-inch lift kit (that’s about 50 mm).

Ford Performance says its engineers worked with Fox to develop unique internal valves for the shocks to deliver “confident performance and predictable handling” both on- and off-road. With the kit installed, the Blue Oval brand says both the Ranger enjoys improvements in front ground clearance, approach and breakover angles.

Ford South Africa reveals one-off ‘Heritage’ version of Ranger bakkie!

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa has transformed a Ranger Wildtrak into a one-off model celebrating both Heritage Month and the Blue Oval brand’s 96 years of local manufacture.

A team from Ford SA’s paint shop at the Silverton assembly plant in Pretoria created the one-of-a-kind double-cab model, using paintbrushes, spray guns and 35 litres of automotive paint. It took the team of five artists, three sprayers and one assembler a total of 650 hours (mainly outside of their regular shift work, says Ford) to complete the project.

The vehicle – powered by Ford’s 3,2-litre five-cylinder turbodiesel – features the national flag stretching below the grille, across the bonnet and over the roof, while the tailgate is decorated with Ndebele art and a map of South Africa showing the location of Ford’s plants in Gauteng and the Eastern Cape.

The artworks on either side of the vehicle, meanwhile, depict what Ford calls an “eclectic array of cultural artefacts and aspects of environmental significance to South Africa and its people”, including proteas and San rock art.

One-Off Ford Heritage Ranger for SA

It’s Heritage Month in South Africa and Ford is celebrating with this one-of-a-kind Heritage Ranger art bakkie.

Ford has transformed a Ranger Wildtrak into an art car to celebrate South Africa’s rich and diverse heritage.

The Ranger bakkie is assembled at Ford’s Silverton Plant and a team from the plant’s Paint Shop was commissioned to create this unique South African-inspired bakkie.

A total of 5 artists worked on the project from concept to completion, using 35 litres of automotive paint, paint brushes, spray guns and a total of 650 hours to finish this piece of art.

The artwork includes elements such as the South African flag which is seen over the grille, bonnet and roof, Ndebele tribal art on the tailgate and a map of South Africa with the location of Ford’s plant in Gauteng and Eastern Cape included. Furthermore, collages on the side of the vehicle depict an array of cultural elements and artefacts including the Protea, South Africa’s national flower as well as San rock art.

Ford celebrates SA heritage with one-of-a-kind Ranger

Ford Southern African has been in a celebratory mood this Heritage Month, and to mark the occasion, as well as 96 years of local vehicle production, the company commissioned some of its employees to create an artwork on wheels.

Given that it's produced here, the 2019 Ranger Wildtrak was the obvious candidate for transformation, and it certainly was a colourful makeover, compliments of a team that Ford commissioned from its own paint shop at its Silverton plant in Gauteng.

The project was completed by five artists, three sprayers and one assembler, who spent a total of 650 hours infusing the Ranger with more Mzansi magic than perhaps any other bakkie in the country has ever seen. The artists used paint brushes and spray guns to spread 35 litres of automotive paint across the one-of-a-kind Ranger.

While the front of the vehicle is dominated by South Africa’s flag, the tailgate is decorated with Ndebele tribal art and a map of the country, while the sides portray a variety cultural artefacts, including a potjie pot!

“It is a great privilege to be part of the team that worked on this incredible project, and delivering a product that every Ford employee from every cultural background can be proud of,” said project leader Queeneth Buthelezi.

SA tuner pushes Ford Ranger 2,2 TDCi all the way to 185 kW and 520 N.m!

A South African tuner has released details on its stage four kit for the Ford Ranger 2,2 TDCi, handing the bakkie significantly more power and torque.

Randburg-based tuner RGMotorsport says its flagship package for the 2,2-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine will hike its peak outputs from the stock 118 kW and 385 N.m all the way to 185 kW and 520 N.m.

Taking this route, the company says, makes more sense than shelling out for a 3,2-litre five-cylinder model (which offers 147 kW and 470 N.m as standard) or indeed one of the new bi-turbo 2,0-litre variants (157 kW and 500 N.m), although we’d point out that modifying your bakkie will, of course, void your warranty.

Ford adds style to mid-range Ranger XLS models

With 10 variants on offer, the XLS trim grade not only represents the middle of the Ford Ranger line-up, but it also makes up nearly a third of the local range. Now Ford is giving it a styling makeover by offering a ‘Chrome Styling Pack’ at no additional cost.

This essentially makes the XLS models resemble the more luxurious XLT range, with a new chrome grille replacing the previous previous matt grey finishes, and chrome treatment also being applied to the mirror housings, door handles, rear bumper step and tailgate handle. The XLS derivatives also get a set of 17-inch six-spoke alloy wheels pinched from the XLT, in place of the previous 16-inch rims, and available in silver or gloss black, while a stainless steel sports bar is now part of the deal too.

Ricardo unveils military-spec Ford Ranger pick-up

British engineering firm gives rugged pick-up underbody protection and a heavy-duty roll cage

British engineering firm Ricardo has unveiled a military-spec version of the Ford Ranger pick-up, developed in collaboration with specialist vehicle manufacturer Polaris.

Ricardo, which specialises in developing engines and transmissions but has also developed the Land Rover Wolf and Foxhound armoured personnel carriers, has equipped the Ranger with a range of features aimed at improving safety, fuel economy and durability.

The most obvious visual difference over the standard model is the addition of an optional external roll cage, which, as with the firm’s military Land Rover, incorporates a circular cut-out at the rear for the mounting of firearms.

Underneath, the Ranger gains an armoured ballistic underfloor, rock sliders and improved waterproofing, while armoured glass and strengthened front and rear bumpers further improve safety in the event of an impact or explosion.

Options fitted to this formidable Ranger build include rollover protection, a ring mounted weapon system, an armoured ballistic underfloor and armoured glass. Topping off the build are NATO IRR paint and camouflage, as well as four-point seat harnesses.

Ford shows off six (yes, six!) extreme Ranger-based bakkie concepts

Ford has revealed the first images of as many as six new Ranger-based concepts, with the vehicles all set to debut at the 2019 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show.

The Blue Oval brand says the custom rides showcase a “wide range of personalisation opportunities”.

A Ford Ranger for Rangers

Military spec Ford Ranger could be a great anti-poaching patrol vehicle

If you want the ultimate Range double-cab hunting vehicle, Ricardo has a solution.

The British engineering consultancy, which has a recognised presence in the automotive space, has revealed its new Ford Ranger military application project.

Based on a Ranger 2-litre bi-turbo double-cab, he Ricardo conversion adds a range of features to make this Ford bakkie safer in the harshest of operating conditions.

Beyond the olive paint finish, there are new bumpers fore and aft, which offer superior impact protection and mount a recovery winch upfront. An armoured underfloor section offers some protection against explosive whilst rock sliders should keep most of the mechanical bits from being damaged is you run close to the ground clearance tolerances off-road.

Ricardo has increased the waterproof rating for this Ranger’s wiring harnesses and air intake, to boost wading depth to 800mm whilst there is an option to fit coil springs with a greater weight rating and larger brakes too.

I can't quite understand how this happened - that Ranger sticker comes from PARTS on 1 piece of application sheet paper so the manufacturer of the stickers must have messed up and factory missed it.

You can clearly see that last G is out of alignment though, so that is even stranger considering the 1 sheet application.
