Quality control PR puff!
Nothing like listening for where the rattle comes from and moering random places. The satisfaction when the rattle is gone is priceless until it returns a few seconds later.Quality control PR puff!
Mine's had to have "jingling" in the B Pillar bodywork smacked quiet and my high beams were far too low.
We could of course chalk that up to being one of the early adopters, but still...
The B Pillar issue was from the body dipping process before painting.Nothing like listening for where the rattle comes from and moering random places. The satisfaction when the rattle is gone is priceless until it returns a few seconds later.
This is most probably where your squeaking sound originated. They add it as an optional extra at no cost to you.The B Pillar issue was from the body dipping process before painting.
I was told that the primer, or whatever, formed crystals between the 2 sheets of metal inside the B Pillar and that was jingling around right next to my ear and my front passenger's ear.
The fix was a bit nasty. They had to remove the B Pillar interior plastic panels and then use a punch tool and a hammer to basically crimp the sheet metal closer together to stop those crystals from moving about. Ford SA even created a step by step procedure for the workshops to follow.
This issue affected a heck of a lot of vehicles from the early production days and I'm pretty sure many went overseas like that too.
The Raptor, which comes in from the Thailand line, did not have the issue because that plant was obviously getting the sheet metal closer together on the line.
Oh well. I'm sure they made changes to the SA line to eliminate this by now.
I've cranked my audio pretty loud and it's sounded all good to my ears. Love the included subwoofer behind the back seat and so do the kids as they fight over who is going to get a back massage on each trip. This is most probably where your squeaking sound originated. I also have a funny noise when driving gravel coming from my door I think. Not too bothered atm. I plan on putting some sound deadening material in the doors at some stage when I might upgrade the sound.
The B&O branded system sounds ok but it loses its tits when you push it hard imo.
Commenting without reading the article, but having had a loan XL for 2 days last year, I can concur that there is a lot of value in that bakkie for the price. When you weigh up the price of an XL versus crossovers for the same money, the XL makes massive sense.Paywall:
