Hi People
I am looking for advice and to gather the collective wisdom of those who know what they are talking about.
I want to get ADSL, soon. All the costs involved are either confusing or too bloody expensive.
I would be happy with dsl384, but after that what.:confused:
I can never get a complete amount for the costs involved for any of the packages. So which ISP's are better than the others and what are my best options.
Any and all help/comments welcome.
Oh ja, and I think I would like to go postal on Telkom almost every other day of my life, but at the moment I am just willing to give them a chance to get better. Obviously I am not holding my breath.:rolleyes:
 
well

R99 something for your voice line (per month)
R245 for 384k ADSL line (per month)
R125 for a 3gig cybersmart account (per month)

That is it. :)
 
ADSL line rental for 384K is R245 (since 1st of August), Obviously normal telephone line rental must also be added wich is around R95-R105 now i think.

As for ISP's.. :
Openweb is around R159 for 2gig international cap/28gig local cap
GOAL.co.za is R228 for 5gig cap,but has 56K afterwards(softcap for another 20gig*international+local*
 
Telkom is the devil, go for iburst or something. Iburst is really stepping up these days. I know, i have it :P

at least Iburst allows 64K after the normal cap.
 
I would seriously recommend again iburst, gave me nothing but grey hair. Search the iburst forum and see why...nothing but complaints

I don't know what the current wait is, but don't expect to get it soon. Apply now, you'll probably have several months to decide whether you really want it.
 
R98 odd rand for your line rental
R245 for your 384k ADSL line
R99 for your 1gb OpenWeb account with 10gbs of local after cap.

I got mine the other day, and it rocks for next to no money!
 
Shot for all the advice. I am impressed with the amount of replies actually.
So onto the stupid questions, as far as this whole local international cap thing goes. It is obvious, but apart from this site there I don't do a lot of local surfing, so I don't see how it will help me. The 5 gig soft cap from goal sounds good, does anybody know how good their servers are, or if that matters. Oh and I did not find the iburst thread, please post the link.
My budget is not that big and I can't see how far a 3 gig cap will get me. Between my bro on WoW and me on the net it will disappear rather fast( top gear episodes etc.)
