Yeah a friends company wants to pull the trigger to get them back, he originally was like yeah he's itching to go back.
After a week back he was like frak no, having to put a mask on to go to the loo, having to go through one door and can only exit another.
He went to his boss and said he's working from home again and she was like okay, technically dev and testers don't need to be in.

Some are torn between the hellish kids and nagging partner at home or the desk at work.

Technically 90% of office staff don't need to be in the office I think.

Haha :) nah he doesn't have that, he just missed some of his colleagues, but none of them went back, they all wfh still so his week.

My wife decided to go back to work, still not sure why as she worked for more than a year from home and have her own office here. I guess she like to separate work from home. Get work done, come home and forget about it.

I've never NOT worked from home or in an office, so no idea what it feels like.

Dude my offices used to hold about 3000 people, I've done a walk around to sort out issues and 90% of the offices are empty, there are maybe 300 people spread across at any given time.
If it wasn't for our spotty VPN I'd be doing my audits at home, as the system requires 40 minutes of uninterrupted connectivity. Which yes we do get, but I've had it in the middle of an audit the VPN freezes. So my audit failed and I had to try bring the system online as users were moaning as I was over my change window.

Depends on your field. There are sectors that have a perpetual shortage. If a big group of those people simply resigned the companies that employ them would have a very serious problem. They currently rely on divide and conquer to keep control.

I can get that, having that separate environment isn't a bad thing. I've not used my home pc that much in the last year as it's in the my study where I work for 9 hours a day.
So now my downtime is away from that room. Though the days I am in the office even if it's for 3 hours a day I could play on the pc.
 
I`m supposed to be at the office, but I usually go home around 12 to be more productive with my faster internet, gaming pc, dual monitor setup and keyboard I can type on.

Even back when I still enjoyed working in an office my children were the top benefit of working from home. Now of course they're not home most of the day anyway. On the other hand office environments have become steadily more like a zoo.
