The Great Return Of 2D side scrollers

Just been wondering if 2D side scrollers are coming back? Just read that Sega is making a 2D Sonic game again.... and on last month NAG there was a cool demo of a 2D game.... Trinity or something and it was quite fun to play.... and I think there is also a new 2D mario game....

Your thoughts?

Those games are quite fun to play. I don't know why game makers thought that all games have to be 3D.

Trine is the game you are referring to and yes its a great game indeed. 2D games were much more playable without a doubt. New games these days struggle on the playability aspect even though they look very good!

Aye, on top down shooters like Raiden (remember that arcade classic) ... geezz I wish they would make a HD remake ot that!

2D side scrollers are awesome. Castle Crashers on xbox live arcade is pretty cool, especially multiplayer.
