Have any of you purposely tried to follow the 30 plants a-week eating philosophy? And did you notice any specific benefits? Prof Tim Spector is a huge proponent of its benefits.

I love his podcasts/videos with Steven Bartlett. Very enlightening.

You might also want to check out sauerkraut & other lacto-fermented vegetables - super easy to make at home.
Yip, fermented foods are part of the advice given - in fact, the 4 Ks are emphasised - Kimchi, Kraut, Kefir and Kombucha.

I'm curious though with all your focus on correct food diets etc do you also focus on exercise?
More in the line of yoga and pilates. No cardio.

Exercise is important, not for weight loss though (that happens in the kitchen), but for the feelgood factor.
I also include resistance training.

I make my own acv. Sometime ago I had bad acid reflux to the point where it wakes me up at night and I struggle to breathe. I read somewhere is because the gut microbiome is not balanced and acv can help with that. I started to drink acv with a pich of salt, in the morning and in the evening before bed.
It's been over 3 years and it cured my acid reflux.
To mention that I also use baking soda in first few weeks.

Do not waste time counting calories. Great advice in this video.

Ok i get a calorie of food is not a calorie once eaten (e.g protein burns off 20% but carbs dont and fibre/fat can slow everything down etc). However what other method is there to try moderate intake?

Relative is eating a whole food diet and not losing but they refuse to calorie count. During the holiday i can see them eating a unprocessed food diet but eating a whole avo with breakfast and possible again at lunch is actively working against them in my opinion as well as liberal use of olive oil / butter. Then they are frustrated they are not losing. While counting is not perfect, trying to eat only unprocessed food while calorie counting seems like the best method and helps ensure you hit your protein and fibre goals. Without counting you have no benchmark to try see if you doing it right.

Eating unprocessed food as someone that is normal or slightly overweight works. Anecdotally someone that is obese/morbidly obese it does not because your eating habits are so stuffed to begin with that you have no reference to check your food intake against. Saying that as someone that was morbidly obese.
