Well, I am looking for a "good" planer (not a hand planer) . But was hoping to find something that doesn't cost 10K.Lithium is a big plus in that department, they should be good if sitting on the shelf for a year or two.
and this ingco range is fairly big - you can get everything from grinders to cordless screwdrivers and impact drivers, impact drills, etc.
@vangar316 - is it my imagination or has the price changed on this? https://www.takealot.com/total-cordless-li-ion-combo-kit-with-2-x-2-0ah/PLID73052704
I swear it was R23xx when I put it into my cart. It's now R2500...
Takealot are well known for dodgy stuff like this, if enough people view an item then the price automatically goes up.Yep... the buggers changed the price after it went into my cart!

...and sanity check, I had just messaged my son in law about the "special" at about the time I put it into the basket.

Lunchbox planers are stupidly overpriced for what they are. They all snipe, they all suck a bit but also get the job done.Well, I am looking for a "good" planer (not a hand planer) . But was hoping to find something that doesn't cost 10K.
Something like this:

I would most probably order one as well as 1 or 2 extra blades, well when I get to it. Got some nice wet timber in Midlands. It dried really nice and straight. Now it just need some plaining. And planning to get a whole lot more.Lunchbox planers are stupidly overpriced for what they are. They all snipe, they all suck a bit but also get the job done.
This is the one I would get through, it at least has a digital depth gauge and the blades are cheap to replace. I spoke to a guy who has a carpentry business and he said the Adendorff ones lasted a lot longer than the Jet and Makita he has previously bought.![]()
MAC AFRIC 13" (325mm) Thicknesser Planer | Adendorff Machinery Mart
Smaller design with the DIY or home carpenter in mind. Easily fits on most smaller workbenches with collapsable extenders for support on longer wood pieces. Fitted with a 2-speed wood feeder makes this a very cost-effective woodworking companion.www.adendorff.co.za

*Edit2* - just discovered I had it open on another tab - I had one in the cart at the time

So it's totally cool to change prices while I shop, but NOT cool to change prices while they're in my "basket" IMO. Takealot, take note.

Total has one too, the only tool I've seen that they don't bring into South Africa is wall chasers
It works pretty well for smaller trees and suchHow well do they work?
The Makita version by all reports is great, same as petrol the only limitation being the battery runtime.
The sellers determine the prices, not Takealot. Even if they did, do you really think if one of millions of customers puts one of their millions of products in a basket they will changed the price for everyone just to make and extra R150?Yep... the buggers changed the price after it went into my cart!
