The iOS 10 Thread/Discussion

Upgraded to 10.1 on my iPhone 6 and had a WhatsApp update, now my WhatApp does not display the unread (badge) count on the icon on the home screen. Checked all the settings and everything is enabled.

Anyone else experience this issue?

Jip mine does it too since updating to iOS 10.1 and the latest Whatsapp version that came out Tuesday. My App Store icon has the same problem now.

Its really annoying having to go into WhatsApp to check it every time.

I recall an odd bug with WhatsApp and iOS 10. Restart your iPhone by holding in the power and home button for 10s

That makes for a strange problem then, a stupid question of the obvious, have you checked that notifications are on in the settings menu? If on, have you tried turning them off and back on again?

Yep, all the notifications are enabled. Turned them off, rebooted my device... Then enabled them again, hard reboot, however, the issue still persists.

I see this morning there is a new WhatsApp update version 2.16.14 release notes say :

  • Fixed bug where app icon sometimes doesn't show the number of unread messages
  • If you are still experiencing issues with notification sounds, please update to iOS 10.1

So give the new version a go and see if sorts your issue.

Thanks Mike... Updated this morning and working like normal again.

Apple on Monday seeded the first iOS 10.2 beta to developers. Folks enrolled in Apple’s developer program can install the update via the over-the-air mechanism in the Settings app, or from the dev center.

The move comes one week after 10.1 was released to the public, and just hours after Apple rolled out iOS 10.1.1 with bug fixes for Health data. It appears 10.2 will also bring about bug fixes and improvements
