The IoT and the return of 8-bit computing

I disagree.

8-bit processors are expensive these days. Additionally most semiconductor vendors are pushing ARM as the core of choice because its widely supported, highly power efficient, and extremely cheap to make.

I have stopped all 8-bit development quite a while ago, use exclusively ARM these days. At less than ZAR 10 for a 55MIPS 32-bit core there is no point in struggling on with a limited address space, and even less memory, sometimes less than 512 bytes.

While I have not really worked with MIPS, that price point is *interesting*. I can't even get low end Atmels at that price. Could I maybe bother you for a link to your suppliers website and the spec file please?
