"He explained that the problem is not that the JSE will eventually no longer have any listed companies if this trend continues."
Like most things go in SA. ANC failure is a disease spreading all over South Africa.

These are all lies! The JSE has too many companies listed. Too many to choose from. Nothing wrong here. Just more doom and gloom.

"This means that, in the next ten years, South Africa will go from a market that had 800 companies 30 years ago to a market with only 100 companies." Seems like a negative trend?

Don't be negative. 100 is more manageable. Better choices to invest in. Getting rid of all the junk. Fewer does not always mean it is bad news. Some excellent SOE's like Eskom, the Post Office, SAA, Danel, Transnet and more may soon be onboard for all those private pension funds to invest in and make up some losses.

He is trolling pretty much the whole forum; just ignore.

Better choices or limited choices?

Better. Getting rid of junk does not mean you are being limited.
Less listings means that less companies are getting started and opening up for investors, less companies means less economic activity.

"Delistings are normal and take place in any economy. However, the problem in South Africa is that they are not being replaced with new listings. "
