For those of you that know how big an impact Putin played in getting Trump elected with information assymetrical warfare, you will find this document released by the Atlantic Council interesting.

To understand this in a local context, think of the reason influx of fake news websites. Would Putin assist Zuma to get the nuclear deal? Is this type of information warfare being passively used on the South African population?

I hope there are smart people who are aware of this problem or we are in big trouble :( Putin is the king of information warfare.

Adm. Mike Rogers, director of the National Security Agency, is directly blaming Russia for the data breaches at the Democratic National Committee (DNC), which he called "a conscious effort by a nation-state to attempt to achieve a specific effect."

At Tuesday's Wall Street Journal CEO Summit, Rogers brushed off claims by WikiLeaks head Julian Assange and others that Russian President Vladimir Putin's regime was not behind the attacks, as well as remarks from President-elect Donald Trump that anyone could be responsible.

“There shouldn't be any doubt in anybody's mind. This was not something that was done casually. This was not something done by chance. This was not a target that was selected purely arbitrarily," said Rogers at the event.
"This was a conscious effort by a nation-state to attempt to achieve a specific effect."

I don't think even they ever thought it would go off this well.

Watching Putin break up NATO a piece at a time is incredible to watch. He is the information master. No one is better. He is winning.

Smart play by Putin, if not a new one. Instead of having to fight the geopolitical/diplomatic battles over your sphere of influence, rather just help prop up movements and leaders that won't stand in your way.
