Finally got around watching and it was not as good. In fact, The Vanishing was a lot better in about each and every way.
What could have made it better would be a shorter midsection, less one hand on the mermaid and other self-steering. Finally, if you are going to teaze eldrich descent then at least do so properly minus almost turning it into a one man animal farm workhouse simulation.
At least the Captian's character is likable and some of his discourse. But... that erm dripping scene in the lighthouse
If I really have to score it then well I suppose it could "get away" with 5, but hell it's nowhere near a 6 or more.

“The Lighthouse” is also shot with a 1.19:1 aspect ratio. Aspect ratio is the ratio between the width to height of the screen. For reference, Instagram posts have an aspect ratio of 1:1. The 1.19:1 aspect ratio heightens the claustrophobic feeling of the location. The smaller frame size means that the framing of the shot has to be perfect.
