I am sitting at my pc at work now and for some reason i can't get my head around the number 3..as in the 3 GB cap. Why 3? WHY? WHY!!!! Why not 4 or 2 or 1 or 5. Why is it 3 GB. Does Telkom subscribe to the principles of Feng Shui that say "to purify the soul and ensure corporate success, all caps should be of the order of 3"? or what? Can anyone explain to me where this number 3 comes from. What is the logic behind choosing this specific number.

telkom employees, like many other animals in the animal kingdom cannot actually count above 3, so like eagles, if you steal their 4th egg, they won't notice!

Actualy Sizwe just sucks playing darts. :p

none of us use 64K lines, Telskum still needs to realise this.

Do the calc - the result is close to 3GB.

If this is actually the reason for the 3GB cap, I have to agree that Telkom is still operating in the dark ages.

BTW: Do I get the same feeling about Telkom as others published on M$?

It was the time (in hours) $izwe took to run the 100m.:P (and since he got cross at that, he made everyone on ADSL have caps in 3GB increments)

All good suggestions... lol :)

What is even more sick is how every """""competitor""""" has followed suit with a 3gb cap of some form (incl port shaping). except vodacom with 3G, which is ironic because with the "3" in 3G you'd have thought that would have confused the powers that be and made the cap 3gigs...

At the moment the 3gig is not an issue for me, I generally only hit half of that every month. But port shaping irks me

I disagree, I recon port shaping and capping are both issues as they both affect a large number of users negatively.

Personaly I exceed the 3GB cap x2 on ISDN 64K using it only in infinit call times. The 3GB cap is one of the big reasons why I have not looked to getin dsl right away.

If you just game and don't download much then I guess your only gripe would be the latency created by port shaping. Then again, If you dont use your connection to download you dont realy need much bandwidth either.

Both the wife and I surf, I play games about 16 hours/week plus the occasional porn dl :o and no problems yet. I can understand the fustration though, I think a better figure would have been 15 - 20MB. But this has been discussed at infinitum
