Well its not like he hasnt had chances yet (rooney that is). That little boy is pissing me off now! Bring in Berbatov and let Rooney go play with the amateur team he deserves to be in.

Rooney score? On the pitch?

I'm actually watching a Man U game, and they do look sharp, but Rooney looks terrible.

Tevez is still the energizer bunny!

Just need a few more goals now :)

Translated: Sell Rooney...

(I would love to eat my words and watch him return to form - but he was far from it last season - and appears even worse at the start of this one)

Rooney's been over-rated for ages and will be out of a starting 11 position pretty soon with the purchase of a new striker.

Next I hope he does not get selected for the england squad as they really struggle with a striker who doesnt actually score goals.

Most certainly - many English supporters I have spoken to ask the question why he doesnt play as well for England as he does for Man U. I dont know what they are on about - he plays exactly the same for both - check the stats - he hardly ever scores for either...

If u think Rooney is great, then you must be blind, Even the Man United supporters are starting to realise it. Watching tonights game should sum him up as a player. It was poor from him.

Yep the last english game even the english commentators were saying they need to get a new striker.
Rooney is not creative off the ball which is key to being a good striker as you need to play yourself into space.

The sad thing is that this is exactly what his strength used to be...

I can't wait for us to get BBT. With him and Tevez and Rooney in the team it will be a different matter altogether :)

Supercup time on Friday. Let us hope we put in a decent showing at least :o

Fletcher to score again? :D

SPURS THREATEN TO MAKE BERBATOV ROT

Dimi Berbatov has been told by Tottenham that they are prepared to make him rot in the reserves rather than sell him for less than £30m to Manchester United.

The stark warning is understood to have been delivered to the Bulgarian and his agent, Emil Dantche, over the weekend in the wake of his no-show against Sunderland.

While the striker's sale to United has been depicted as an inevitability, Spurs' intransigence has only intensified in recent days. Not only have relations dramatically deteriorated between Spurs and Berbatov, but they remain strained between the two clubs.

There has been no official confirmation that the champions have tabled an improved bid of £25m over the weekend and, according to The Independent, 'Spurs are also annoyed that United have suggested that they must drop their complaint that they made an illegal approach for the Bulgarian. Spurs regard this as a ridiculous demand, especially as they secured an apology, and a donation to charity, from Liverpool after a similar complaint over their courting of Robbie Keane, who eventually left for £19m.'

Speaking last night after his side's 1-0 win at Portsmouth, Sir Alex Ferguson admitted he was growing concerned at the situation.

"There is only a week to go," he said. "You start to concern yourself a bit, but we have shown we have a good quality of player here."

Ferguson's dismay is likely to pale alongside that of his Tottenham counterpart, however. Juande Ramos' call on Sunday for the Berbatov saga to be swiftly resolved has fallen on deaf ears, with the determination of the Spurs hierarchy's to play hardball with United intensified by Berbatov's no-show. It's thought they considered fining the Bulgarian a week's wages until Ramos issued a statement on their own website insisting that the decision to omit the striker for the fixture with Sunderland was his alone.

While it is understandable that Spurs do not want to sell their prized asset for anything less than what they consider a fair price, the longer the saga continues the less time they have to buy reinforcements. Ramos pointedly attributed the defeat to Sunderland to the availability of just a single striker.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Radamel Falcao, Diego Forlan, Andrei Arshavin and Emile Heskey are all potential targets but, with their attention still focused on Berbatov, the north London outfit are not thought to be close to making a new signing.

Well Tottenham are are close to buying a new Russian striker by the name of Pavlyuchenko. According to him, it's a done deal. Maybe this will help our cause, since they will now have a striker if Berbatov leaves.

VIDIC WANTS OUT OF RAINY MANCHESTER

Nemanja Vidic has rained considerable doubt on his future at Manchester United by revealing that he cannot abide the weather in England's third city.

Speaking to a Russian magazine, Vidic described the population as being as gloomy as the weather itself and said the highlight of Manchester was the train station where people could escape to less rainy destinations.

"I will never stay to live in England, that's for sure," the Serbian told Russian magazine Football Weekly. "You get only a brief glimpse of sunlight before it's all cloudy again. The winters are mild, but in summer the temperatures seldom go higher than 20C. And it rains, rains, rains.

"In future, I would like to test myself in another top league. I'm thinking of Spain. At least there will be no reason to complain about the weather. In England, they say that Manchester is the city of rain. Its main attraction is considered to be the timetable at the railway station, where trains leave for other, less rainy cities."

While Mancunians might sympathise with Vidic's opinion of their weather, they are unlikely to be so tolerant of his opinion of them.

"It's not only the weather that I'm not happy about here," he continued. "In Russia and Serbia the people's way of life is similar. In England it's totally different. Here they just don't have time to feel the joy of life.

"Throughout the week they all work so hard. They only talk to people at lunch break. Then in the evening they come home and watch the telly, so they can get up early for work the next day."

OMG. Why don't ManYoo just join the freakin' Spanish league and get it over and done with. Ridiculous. He knew what he was getting himself into when he signed. SIGH.
