The FA has absolutely no say on how a clubs youth academy is run. Were you serious with that statement? Ill let that one pass, and i will act like i never read it.

come on - I didn't say the FA controls the youth academy of the clubs but consider this:
do you think the FA will just sit back and not implement something that will ultimately force clubs to better or concentrate more on their youth systems. They are currently reviewing Blatters 6-5 scenario which no doubt will have each club forced to consider either improving their own youth system or 'stealing' youngsters from the likes of smaller clubs like West Ham in the past.

What current youngsters?
By you showing me that you cannot post sufficient info to backup your statements, shows me that you dont know what u are talking about.

I have posted facts backed up by links
Now i ask the same f you, and what do i get?

Nothing!!

Kule - 1
Meistral - 0

Lets move on ;)

Whose talking about just current youngsters? the thread reads back to 10 years or so of players. Because they don't have a Messi of any from the academies this season alone does not mean that the Academies ALL suck and that is what your comment stated.

Blatters rule wont fix anything as the talent isnt in the youth academies which is the problem. As previously said the problem isnt the clubs are not concentrating on their youth academies, they spend millions each year and get pressure from the media/fa to produce players.

Also english players are over-priced when you can easily go to africa or europe and purchase a far better player for less than half the money.

A good way to see which youth academy is doing the best is the league.
The current top team in the youth league is Aston Villa, Arsenal also have a good one who have won a lot of cups.

The uk is still miles behind spain as previously stated barca alone has produced close to 100 players selected for their national teams (brazil/spain/argentina etc)

Also the reserve teams in spain dont play in a reserve league, they play in the same league as the first team but are not allowed to play in the same division. So when players leave the reserve team they already have experience playing on the big stage and are ready to step into the first team.

Your favourite Man United player from your era and secondly overall if you had to chose from the history of United?

Tough one!!!

Cantona, Giggs, Schmeichel, Bechkam, Keane, Solskjaer

Can't choose! Too hard. Maybe Cantona or Giggs...

Well show me the players!!!! Ill say show me a handful of players to come thru the Untied ranks over the past 10 years!!!

Please show me and prove me wrong. All this talk, but not one of you can say what players came thru their academy. United's youth academy sucks!

It will continue to suck unless you can provide us with players to back your cause.

All great :)

Just a pity that not much footage is readily available of the 50s, 60s and 70s era. Also the media coverage on players these days, plays a huge role compared to the earlier years - my feeling. Most people would chose Cantona and also have made him the player of the last century, but the likes of Best, Law and Charlton received lesser attention due to the media influence/difference. If they were actually better or not is debatable I guess.

the game has also changed alot since they where around

football is alot more defensive that it was back then

so maybe the guy playing today are miles ahead of those guys because they have to contend with very good defensive teams

Let's try a shot at this - Evans, Eagles, Rossi(partly), Jones, Lee and Ebanks-Blake. Not brilliant but also not bad that you would class the United youth academy to 'suck'. The main factors that have halted the evolvement of another 90s bunch, is the fact that money is rather spent on getting the finished product. Further problems would be the minimal injuries to the 1st team choice, thereby not allowing the reserves and youth players to move through the ranks through experience. This and the fact that United loan a lot of players out to 'feeder' clubs than have them go through the youth system to reserver to senior, has not helped either.

Maybe with Ole and McClair, things can take a turn for the better.

Tell me that ALL EPL academies' don't suck, then we are in an agreement. ;)

All those players are worthless you just mentioned!

Rossi comes from Parma youth!!!

Evans was on loan to Sunderland and couldnt even make their first team!!

Point is, those players SUCK!!!! You guys havent produced one significant player for more than a decade!!

If grooming players to play in the 1st division is good enough for you. Then ya, says alot.

Blake plays in the 1st division he isnt good enough for the Premiership!

Even Jones - he is getting ready to play in the Championship this season. Burnley seems to be his next club.

And these are players that you think are good :D

The youth system is good, and arguably the best in England. If you don't agree, then who cares.

Move on already.

Yeah, I think footy was quite a lot different back then. I mean substitutes were only introduced in the 70s. Before then Leeds would go around kicking people off the park so they would end up playing with 10 or even 9 men! :o

The game was a whole lot slower as well...So I guess it is hard for us to compare unless we were actually there all those years ago..

Kule, you know what the problem here is? You do not clearly understand the word 'suck'...here is a dictionary link

and specific from there:
"4 - Vulgar Slang. To be disgustingly disagreeable or offensive."

The academy is obviously not that and hence, you could use, average or mediocre. I use great because they have helped develop a lot of players careers and lively hoods. It created the 90s era and the 'busby babes'.

Ok. I will use the word average then. They are very average. No good players have come out of thier for the past decade.

Happy now?

yip :D

waiting for united to spend their £35m odd all ready. (and agree with Henry. Berbatov FTW)

Speaking of Henry....Wuould you take him if he wanted out of Barca? You think he'd be happy to sulk on our bench behind Rooney and Tevez...and Berbatov?? :)
