The Man United Thread

United got owned by a Uefa cup team. Some people on this forum said that Uefa cup is not a top flight compeition.

Scholes is a dirty player.

Zenit owned United last night!

For me two things were evident last night.

1) Man United are nothing without Ronaldo

2) Lets be honest now, Rooney is not a great player. He is average at best.

I really wanted Barca to draw Man United in the group stages of the CL :(

What a stupid tosser you are Scholes. But not surprising. :(

Its going to be a very long season if we carry on playing like this...

Barring a late miracle we are not gonna sign another striker either :(

Time for the lads to stand up and be counted.

Starting with you, Mr Nani.

Manchester United are expected to complete the transfer of Dimitar Berbatov, but only if they sign two forwards before the window shuts.

The Guardian reports that Berbatov has been left out of Juande Ramos's plans for Sunday's game against Chelsea, just as he was for last weekend's defeat to Sunderland.

Furthermore, the paper claims Berbatov said his goodbyes at the Tottenham training ground yesterday, and that United's willingness to allow Louis Saha to leave for Everton on a free transfer suggests they feel a deal is close.

Spurs have insisted that they will settle for nothing less than £30million for Berbatov, while United's last formal offer was for £25million.

However, The Times claims that Spurs will only allow Berbatov to leave if they complete the signing of Roman Pavlyuchenko - who was in London for a medical and to complete the formalities of his move from Spartak Moscow on Friday - and one other forward, possibly his Russian teammate Andrei Arshavin.

Alex Ferguson remained tight-lipped about the deal after United's defeat to Zenit St Petersburg in the European Super Cup on Friday:

"I can't tell you any news on that because I have been with the team today and I don't know what has gone on," Ferguson said. "And that's all I have to say."

Meanwhile, Zenit boss Dick Advocaat claimed that unless Spurs significantly increase their bid for Arshavin, that particular deal is dead.

"It is quite simple: the board say that the deal is closed," Advocaat said.

"They did not offer the £22 million that we want. They only offered £16 million and, with respect, Andrei Arshavin is worth more than £16 million."

And still the BBt story rumbles on.

Agree with everything except, the UEFA cup isnt a top flight competition, just like the sky isnt pink, facts are facts and teams that play in the uefa cup only do so because they arent good enough to qualify to play in the champions league

So you are saying that all past winners of the UEFA cup are not good teams?

Have a look though the UEFA cup - its a brilliant compeition. Maybe someone should tell AC Milan, Juventus, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Liverpool - that it isnt a worthy tournament to win. They all past champions.

AC Milan will try the best to win it this year.

Last night just proved that the UEFA cup winners are good enough to take on anybody. They owned United last night.

Yes, you are right.

The fact a team finshes out of the top 4in their league doesnt mean they a bad team.As we saw last night the Uefa cup has the same quality teams as in the champs league and proved that last night by owning man-u BIG TIME.Only a idiot would think the uefa cup is a tournamenthich that lacks quality.

OH by the way, news just in regarding the whole berbatov saga.Spurs are willing to sell him to man-u at half the price if manchester are willing to give scholes as a goal keeper to them.

no it doesnt mean they're a bad team, it just means they're not good enough for the champions league

just like AC Milan, couldnt finish 4th out of 38 games in their domestic league, Arsenal completely dominated them over both legs of the champions league last season, Chelsea F***ed them up 5-0 or something in pre-season

On current form they deserve to compete for the UEFA cup and nothing more

Zenit played greatl against United in the supercup but thats 1 game and it hardly means they're a better team

Did you even watch that game?
Ac Milan played with praticaly a reserve team. Are you even aware arsenal were in the uefa cup finals a few years ago?

Barcelona could have fnished out of the top 4 because of the 15 injuries they had last season, does that then mean they not good enough for the champs league on current form?

Uefa cup's quality of teams is as good as the champs league. The fact a team finishes out of the top 4 the season before means nothing.

I dont see whats the point of debating about which team is better. You take one game at a time. Zenit played better football than MUnited on the day, and they deserved to win it. End of the season the best team will be picking up the silverware, be it Munited,Arsenal or Chelsea. Same goes with any other tournament.

Zenit beat United, Zenit beat United, Zenit beat United !!!! United still lost !

You need to grow up boy.

Which game are you referring to? I hope you're not referring to the Arsenal champions league game, cos that was far from a reserve team

And I hope you are referring to the Chelsea pre season game, because we also played a weak squad.

And if you call Jankulowski, Zambrotta, Alexandre Pato a weak squad, you need to learn about football...

Did my post get deleted?

Yet some people can just come in here and post whatever rubbish they like?

Shame.

I shall post again then.

Still no sign of a move for BBT. Spurs look pretty poor so far. Lucky to be 1-1 at HT.

Let's just hope they get this second striker then they can let us have BBT tomorrow :)

hahaha
good start to the season for Barcelona and AC Milan :)
