FFS icyrus needs to learn the damn rules of football!

The difference is that it is a damn GOALKEEPER!!!!!! He is allowed to pick the ball up, a outfield player is not allowed at any point of the game to handle the ball.

It was never ever a red card offence.

But wait, im writing a letter to FIFA on your behalf to see if they can change the rules. Who knows, maybe in 2010 when a player passes the ball back to the keeper and he picks it up - that keeper will be sent off.

Again - learn the rules before you post. Football isnt that hard to understand.

You idiot, I quoted directly from the rules. Perhaps it is you who should do some reading.

Are you mentally retarded?

And no, he was not allowed to pick up the ball in that situation, as witnessed by the fact the freekick was given.

But not when its a back pass. We are not saying that its always a red card but in this instance Friedel stopped a certain goal scoring opportunity but committing a foul, hence the question of a red!

Yes, he is allowed to pick the ball up. Obviously not when its a backpass, that is a foul.

Is it a red card offence? No

Has it ever been a red card offence? No

But dont worry dbecks, icyrus is going to change that rule.

My only wish is that users can learn the rules of the game. Last year it was the offside rule. This year it seems it is the backpass rule.

You truly are mentally deficient.

Here is a section from FIFA's book of laws:

There are two sending-off offences that deal with denying an opponent
an obvious opportunity to score a goal. It is not necessary for the offence
to occur inside the penalty area.
If the referee applies advantage during an obvious goal-scoring
opportunity and a goal is scored directly, despite the opponent’s
handling the ball or fouling an opponent, the player cannot be sent
off but he may still be cautioned.
Referees should consider the following circumstances when deciding
whether to send off a player for denying a goal or an obvious goal-
scoring opportunity:
• the distance between the offence and the goal
• the likelihood of keeping or gaining control of the ball
• the direction of the play
• the location and number of defenders
the offence which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring
opportunity may be an offence that incurs a direct free kick or an
indirect free kick

I even highlighted the most relevant section for you. You really are a peach.

As usual you have no idea what you are talking about but run your mouth constantly.

Maybe i should try a simpler way.

This is not a question of the foul, this is a question weather the goalkeeper should have been sent off.

A backpass has never ever ever ever ever ever ever resulted in a goalkeeper being sent off.

Never ever ever ever ever ever. It has always been an indirect free kick.

But who knows, all your whining might result in FIFA changing the rules. Goodluck!

Again i say, learn the rules. It shows you must be new to this sport ;)

lol hahahahahaha

How can a goalkeeper be sent off for picking up a backpass, the rule you are looking at is regarding outfieldplayers.

Now go watch football for more than one season and then come comment on the forum.

Regarding your "bolded" text:

opportunity may be an offence that incurs a direct free kick or an
indirect free kick

Now ask yourself, what is a goalkeepers job?
To deny an opponent an obvious goal-scoring
opportunity

The mind boggles. Even when quoted directly from the rules with the relevant sections highlighted you still manage to accuse others of not knowing the rules.

Truly momentous.

Have a look at Supasta's post. Maybe it will sink in then.

I know. :D Classic hey. He needs to learn the damn rules.

Unless he does so by breaking the rules as set down by FIFA, like say for instance fouling a player? Or handing a ball he was not supposed to?

You sir are also an idiot with a big mouth.

Not to worry, I don't expect either of you mentally retarded f*ckwits to finally understand. Back to ignore list for you.
hahahahahaha

so picking up the ball, he fouled the player?
The other people in my office are having a good laugh at your "football" logic.

This must have been the first time you have ever seen a backpass in football.

hahahahahahaha
