Computer scientist Dan Southwood-Wells and software engineer Herman Maritz founded South Africa's largest independent app, EskomSePush (ESP), as a side project 11 years ago.

Southwood-Wells is an alumnus of Rhodes University, where he obtained his master's degree in computer science in 2009.
