I just watched the finale.

I am profoundly happy for all the characters .... except Whiley (yes, I know they are fictional).

And I have enjoyed this story from the first season.

I still feel that they didn't make enough of the Red John character at his revealing ... but this is not important now.

Ended? We're in the middle of the season?

RedJohn is sooooo [-]2014[/-] 2013.

Could we please focus on the finale (after you've watched it) and not the rest of the series ... whatever your impression of it is?

Correct, they are mainly about 22 episodes, but the latest episode is a 2 hour episode (season 7 episode 12 and 13). Still watching it so can't say if its does feel like a finale...
I wonder why they only made this, the final season, only 13 episodes.

Had a finale feel but why would it say "Stay tuned for scenes from our next episode" at the end ;)

I think the show is just going through a change, some new characters and such.

They had an interview with Bruno Heller, creator of the Mentalist last year during the Red John saga. He mentioned that he started off working on Gotham, which he said may take up a chunk of his time. Back then he was not even sure if the TV station would renew The Mentalist after the 6th season.

I think, looking at the success of Gotham, and the fact that the Mentalist was renewed, he probably decided to end it and focus mainly on Gotham.

Personally, when the RJ saga unfolded and started getting the feeling that he did not know where to take the show. I think he tried to revive the storyline into a new direction, but failed badly.

Nah, it is over.

Here is an interview with Heller confirming it.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

Yeah - that was kind of strange. :o

Mentalist was awesome when it started, it was one of my favorite. But after each season/episode it just became k@ker and k@ker. RJ should have been revealed after season 2, Or each season should have had a main villain/mastermind like in Dexter, but stretching one villain out for 5 seasons, it got extremely boring and down right siht
Gotham is also nothing spectacular.

Agreed.

Gotham is nothing spectacular, in fact it is ****! I stopped watching it and have no interest in it. I know Batman and stick to that part of the story.

However, the Western masses likes Gotham and decided it was better than The Mentalist. If hundreds of millions of people think so, who are we to disagree?

I agree Gotham is pretty crap, watched about 6 or 7 episodes and it just did not appeal to me anymore.
The Flash started of cool, now its just a bunch of unrealistic BS
The Blacklist, Season 1 was awesome, Now half into season 2 i lost interest, exactly the same can be said for the Following.
Suits was brilliant when it started, now its the same siht every episode, also stopped watching.

Series I still religiously watch is, Hannibal, Shameless, South Park, Orange is the new black, Fargo, Sherlock. Shameless is starting to get a little boring, but It has to get a lot worse before i would stop watching it.
Other classics I can recall which where awesome throughout their lives where House, Dexter, X-files
I was a huge Breaking bad fan, so im watching Better call Saul, still to early to say if its actually good.
