FYI, Stack Overflow has this massive survey on which languages pay best. It also has a World ranking and USA only ranking. It is interesting how different they are - really, the most important piece of information I got from it is that industry and location are far bigger factors for pay than language.
Eg, Some fancy language xyz is the highest paid ... because it is picked up by some big NY or SV firm, where the cost of living is high. When some big software house in Belarus picks up the language, suddenly the average wage for it falls through the floor, etc.
