I'm not saying that we should just talk about ADSL and nothing else, please understand what I'm saying.
I'm saying that having such strong political debate can take away the image of the community of MyADSL that we're trying to establish, one of a group of people who share the same views on what has to be done, etc. A serious group of people who do not partake in petty squabbles among themselves, etc.
All I'm saying is that what's been going on in some of the political flame thread could to some degree detract from the established MyADSL brand that is quite respected, I guess. And we've got to stick together as a community and stand strong.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't talk about the things that interest us. I've been finding the political threads extremely entertaining reading!
EDIT: I'm saying this because of the delicate situation of politics here in SA and how these kind of discussions can do a lot of damage to this community when people start having racial arguments, hell, even when the word 'race' comes up. MyADSL is trying to appeal to the governement of SA, and of course the news, etc. and they're very sensitive to this kind of thing I would imagine.

kilo I didn't say I want it shut down, I explicitly said that I don't know what the solution is, I just said that one idea is having seperate brands with political discussions or something seperate from the MyADSL brand.
That's only a possiblity I thought of, I don't necessarily want it, I like the MyADSL community and I like participating in the off-topic discussions. But I also care about MyADSL's aims, etc. which are best served by MyADSL having the most respectable brand image possible. I didn't say we should shut down the off topic section down, I'm enjoying it.

You see - otherwise you wouldn't be here - you would look for telkom news - none - you would go away. But - because we're all human here you stick around - building the brand - otherwise there be no brand/or less of. So - take it as it comes - we are already in a 'cleansed' environment.

Okay, I'll tell you what happened, I was just thinking about the whole situation with the political flamewars going on and I got this terrible idea of Telkom saying dismissing a MyADSL report and saying something like "MyADSL, the minority ADSL complaint forum, which is also home to extreme politically right-wing racist naught people, obviously we can't take anything coming from their side seriously."
Okay, I got kinda worried about this happening so I thought I'd mention it. Maybe I was being kinda paranoid, I'll go have a shower and cleanse my dumb post sins.

Maybe being such the honourable person you are, you should start your own forum and deal with whatever you think Telkom might like. This forum has been going strong for a long time and is doing great things. I don't understand why the people who hate it here so much , stick around ????
You raise an important point Mook because the very same people who complain about Telkom's unfairness seem to be unfair themselves, having backward agendas and prejudices. Broadband is a national issue and if influencial people read these threads then unfortunately that's not the impression they will get. I'm afraid the political views expressed here may have an indirect impact on the "struggle" for affordable broadband. Maybe people should look at their own principles first before labelling Telkom.mooK said:
erm, why do you insist on taking stabs at people on this forum? This section of the forum has given us an awesome platform for debate, and the debate has been lively most of the time. The political views expressed and indeed debated in this section is in no way deterring from our collective fight against Telkom.Angelo said:
We've had several liveley debates for a long time in the OT section of this forum, yet MyADSL still strikes fear into many Broadband companies ranging from iBurst to Telkom.
Political views are easily set aside when a call to arms against telecoms is issued. We will keep up the good fight for Broadband in South Africa, and we will argue the Political aspects at play in our society, and once in a while, the politics issues will cross the telecoms issues, and we will be ready to fight.
